As a purchaser of a two hundred thousand plus dollar home I must voice my profound disappointment in Crown Communities. Our one year anniversary since purchasing this home is in coming up this week, and we have yet to have pressing warranty issues resulting from the rushed construction addressed. Thus far we have waited for over three months for needed repairs to be completed.

Specifically, my disgust and utter disappointment can be attributed to the lack of work ethic and professionalism displayed by Jill and Daniel in the Warranty Department. Their unprofessional attitude, failure to return multiple messages left on their answering machine, and the non-existence of customer service has irritated me to a point that I have actively warned friends, family, acquaintances, and colleagues away from the Lakes at Cedar Grove or any of the other Crown Communities.

I first voiced my concern regarding false promises that were made before we closed on our house and were left with a yard full of dead grass. The grass was supposed to have been replaced within 30 days if it did not recover due to the lack of running water when our house was built back in June 2012. A five hundred dollar water bill, severely damaged grass, and a "there is nothing we can do" response later, we contacted the Warranty Department again regarding contractor damages to our driveway and sod. Again, no action was taken by Crown. In March 2013, when all of my repair requests were grouped into the ten-month warranty repair request without my knowledge or consent, and after continuous follow-ups on my end, a supervisor was sent out but again nothing happened. I am sure you see where I am going with this; we are still looking for the "Character that Counts," and the "Customer Service We Deserve."

Let me relate to you some other experiences that led to my final dissatisfaction with Crown Communities:

Standing water. I contacted the Warranty department regarding standing water and grading issues in our yard on March 11, 2013. Every time it rains we have multiple ponds in the back and on the sides of our house that remain for 48 hours or more. Initially we were advised that any drainage issues would be taken care of immediately if they occurred. We had to fight tooth and nail for the landscaping crew to "repair" (i.e. throw a heap of dirt in our back yard and toss two pieces sod on top of it) two of the four affected areas. Crown considered the issue resolved.

Erosion. We have complained about the condition of our back yard for some time now (since we moved in in 2012). After initially being promised by Jill in the Warranty Department that a landscaping company would level our entire backyard properly, we were told by Warranty Manager Daniel that such a thing is not possible and should have never been promised to us. He let me know that he would see what he can do, but I haven’t heard from him for over a month now. His voicemail has been full for weeks, and he has not returned one of my calls. Since then we have noticed four- to six-inch deep cracks running through our entire backyard. I have contacted and filed a claim with the Fulton County Code Enforcement for further investigation of this issue. Fulton County sent an investigator a week after my initial request and determined that grading issues resulting in drainage issues need to be addressed immediately. A Crown Warranty Supervisor promised the inspector that landscaping would address the issues the following day, and complete everything no later than 6/22, but now, 6/24, we are still waiting on landcaping to show up.

Dishonesty. Outside of the deception outlined above, the latest act of dishonesty the scheduled repairs for the ten-month warranty repairs. After never hearing back from Daniel in regards to scheduling the repairs, I requested two days (June 5 and 6). After receiving confirmation from the Warranty Department my husband took two days off work in order to be home during the scheduled time-frame. On June 5, the repair crew never showed, but at 5:00 p.m. I received an email alerting me about an update on the Delano website. I logged on and saw that Jill stated the homeowner cancelled the repairs. Two calls to Jill and Daniel have gone unreturned. We expect to be reimbursed for his two missed days. A gentleman from Downeast Builders contacted me late Friday informing me that the wrong address was listed on the work order. Needless to say we are furious!

In short: BUYER BEWARE!!!!! DO NOT PURCHASE A CROWN HOME! WHILE THEY LOOK VERY NICE ON THE INSIDE, THEY HAVE CONTRACTORS - WHO OFTEN DO NOT EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH - COMPLETE THE WORK. THEY ARE PAID PER JOB, SO THEY ALL RUSH THROUGH AND MAKE IT LOOK DECENT ON THE OUTSIDE, BUT IT IS ALL MESSED UP BELOW THE SURFACE. SAVE YOURSELF A MAJOR HEADACHE AND GO WITH A DIFFERENT BUILDER!!!
