Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My husband started as a Lease Purchase Driver with CRST in June of 2007. I had to get my CDL and did so with CRST. On July 13, 2007 I got on the truck my husband leased. The first 2 months were real good. We made good money and had great miles and lots of loads.

The end of September we noticed that we were sitting a whole lot more than usual and the rates were dropping drastically.

By October a lot of loads that were offered to us, most of the time after we sat for a couple of days with CRST telling us that there was absolutely no freight at all, were loads that paid little or nothing to the truck.

The funny thing was that the company drivers were real busy and stayed running, but there was no freight for us a Lease Purchase Drivers. Then CRST started sending us loads without any fuel surcharges.

The end of October we were sitting in SC without a load ....again and I asked if we could broker our own load. I was told that was ok. So the next to loads we hauled (one from SC to PA, and then from PA to AR) were self brokered and actually paid us more than the loads we had been getting from CRST for the past month.

Once in AR we were again told there was no freight out of Ft. Smith, so again I called an outside broker. He offered us a load from Ft. Smith to Pacific, WA for a rate of $ 2,100 and a fuel surcharge of $ 775.00. He sent this load with this rate breakdown to CRST. They sent us a Qualcomm message saying that they can't book the load with a fuel surcharge, but would book it for us as a flat rate of $ 2,875. You see, CRST gets 30% of the rate, but they don't get any of the fuel surcharge. Then they all of a sudden told us we had to take a load they had to Houston, TX, for $ 500, which meant $ 350 to the truck. We actually ended up paying $ 156 to haul this load after fuel.

CRST is pretty much starving us out, which is really bad especially since we were rated as a A1 team, all our loads were on time, most of them early. Now they supposedly have no freight for us anymore and no matter where we are they tell us we are in a deadzone.

We are bringing the truck back and going somewhere else.

For anybody who is thinking about going to CRST, do yourself a favor and think twice.
