On November 4, 2008 we contacted Get a Moving Company to receive a quote on moving a move from Clearwater, FL to Paso Robles, CA. Spoke with Angela who gave an estimate on a four bedroom, two bath home interstate move of 5,800 lbs. The first estimate was $3700 in total. We stated that would be too much money for us to pay at that time. We told her that we had a second move in mind for some items that were in storage and would need to get those at a later date. She then stated that she would talk to her supervisor to see what she could do. She returned to the phone and stated that the move could be done for $3200 in total based on our estimated weight of 5,800 lbs. We said that would be fine and started to make arrangements. Then we asked was she sure about the correct weight because we have a few large items and many small ones. Angela stated that she would add more weight, 200lbs more just to be sure. She also stated that the move would be 6,000lbs at $3000 in total with a $610 deposit. We asked Angela to read back the estimated items to us and confirm the total. We also requested that we could use a credit card to pay for part of the move. Angela stated that a credit card could be used to pay for the move. The contract states that the $610 deposit would be deducted from the total due at delivery. We agreed to a pick up date of Monday 11/10/08. Faxed in the contract and sent the deposit.

C&S Transportation Services then came on the correct pick up date of 11/10/08. The driver Roberto looked in every room of the house and at all of the furniture, boxes, etc. He then stated that it looked like a lot more than 6,000 lbs. He then call his boss Peter 3 times from his truck cab to explain that our items would take more than the alloted space. Finally, all of the items were then packed in the truck. Our estimated time of delivery was 11/17/08 to 11/18/08

11/17/08 Called moving company, no answer.

11/18/08- Called moving company, no response.

11/19/08 Called Get a Moving Company. They stated they called the driver and owner and told them to get in contact with us.

11/21/08 C&S finally contacted us with total weight and cost of move of 11,500 lbs at $5,140. Also the $610 deposit would not be taken off of the final total and that we could not pay with a credit card.

Disputed over the final cost and contacted Get A Moving Company to complain. Angela stated she received paperwork that stated the final weight was 10,500 lbs.

11/24/08 Tried to contact C&S to get items. No response and no way to leave a message on cell phone.

11/26/08 Contacted C&S again. Peter said he would take the $610 off and the total cost would be $4640. When calculated is only $500 off not $610. Disputed over the final cost again stating that we would not have gone through with the move if this was the est. price. We said that when we had the money we would contact him for delivery.

11/28/08 Tried to negotiate the price of the move. Researched laws to protect consumers against fraudulent interstate moving companies.

12/3/08- Our family had to move to a new home in the same town.

12/9/08 Contacted mover. Peter stated he put our items in one of his two store houses and will not charge any storage fee for 30 days.

12/15/08 Tried to contact mover to receive items at the contracted price plus 10%. Mover did not answer and could not leave a message on cell due to the mail box being full.

12/22/08 Contacted mover and scheduled move for Wednesday 12/24/08. Peter stated that he would have 3 men load up our items and he would call again with the total cost.

12/23/08 Spoke with Peter from C&S Transportation Services. Informed Peter that he did not provide 2 booklets as required by law.

1)Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move

2)Ready To Move Arbitration Info

Also we stated that according to the federal law movers can not hold consumers items hostage. He must deliver items at the contracted rate plus 10% and then bill the remaining in 30 days. Peter stated that He knew the law and was not going to do it. You have my name, take me to court!

12/24/08 - We then faxed the company a message that stated we would report the company to all known agencies if he did not comply. Peter contacted us and said he would have to talk to his partner about delivering for the contracted price plus 10% and he would get back to us.

12/26/08 Did not receive any call from C&S Transportation Services. At 8:30 am we contacted Peter through his office. Peter stated that he wanted $4200 and he would deliver. We continued to reinforce the 10% rule and requested our items. Peter said he would call back with a delivery time in one hour. As of 10:35 am we have not been contacted by C&S Transportation Services. He is now holding our items hostage.
