I am 68 years of age. I received my mail and this check fell out on the floor and I had this letter in my hand reading it,     I was so happy thinking my problems were all over. I kept reading it and it says.I must pay $2400.00 and that made me start thinking ,    Why did"t they just send me $1150.00 and take the taxs out from the $3550.00,so i went to my computer and did a check on these peoples, and it hurt me so bad,my blood pressure went up and i couldn,t hardly breath,i realy thought i had won this money. the Check looks real and when i read on a report Scan the check.
i did that and all over the check I could see void , you cannot see it if you don,t scan it.
How can the Law let these peoples do things like this??One day somebody going to get so excited and die, if it have not already happen, If there is a class action suit plese count me in.

Just so you know ANY check you try and scan will probably say void. This is a security feature to keep the copy from being cashed and not an indication that the check you have is bad.

The indication that it is a scam is when they ask for you to send money back.

By the way who would you sue? These people exist because they can not be traced and people keep falling for this scam that is several decades old. They are in a foreign country. The phone is a throw-away cell they got with a stolen credit card. The names are fake. And when you send them the money through western union it is untraceable. The best thing you can do is spread the word among your friends.

The check IS a fake, but "VOID" showing up when it's scanned or copied has nothing to do with that.  It's a feature of the check paper to keep it from being copied and cashed.  Lucky, though, you took it the way you did...you would definitely have been Ripped Off.

most checks will show void if they are scanned, that is a security feature to prevent making copies of the check.

what these scammers are trying to do is have you deposit the check and then withdraw 2400 buck from your account to only find out that the check is no good and is a fake. your bank will come after you for the money in about 2 weeks when they determine its fraudulent.  look up advance fee scam, or secret shopper scam.

WHATEVER YOU DO DONT WESTERN UNION ANY MONEY ANYWHERE! keep your money in your pocket.
