Hi, my name is Evan Anne Contreras. My 20 year old son works at In and Out and goes to school at COS in Visalia. He saved his money for a year and a half to buy his first car.

My son had picked out the car he wanted online, then went to LA to visit his great grandmother, on March 24th I took his money to the car dealership “D & D Sales” located in Madera and met with Dean Hoffinger one of the owners.

I test drove the car and noticed a few things wrong with it. The oil light was on and some other minor issues. I told Dean about the oil light and the other issues. He told me “just add a quart of oil” and then wrote down on the “as is” buyers guide that he would have the car checked out and fix the issues that were wrong with it as I was very concerned about the oil light.Signed it and dated it.

I gave him the $3000 and got into the car to leave. I hadn’t gone more than 5 miles and the dashboard alerted “STOP DON’T DRIVE OIL PRESSURE”. I pulled over and called Dean. He did not answer. I texted him several times and he finally responded. He said he would have the car towed to his mechanic in the morning and he would take care of it.

Over the next 5 days I texted him multiple times to find out what was going on with the car, he rarely responded, when he did he threatened me that he wasn’t going to fix the car and he wouldn’t tell me where the car was.

On March 30th I finally got the name and location of the mechanic and when I went there it turned out to be somebody’s house. The “mechanic” said it was the oil pump and that he replaced it. He demanded money from me. I paid him and left.

Not 1/4 mile away the car did the same thing, dashboard lighting up and so on. I called the mechanic and he said to bring it back. I brought the car back, he gave me my money back and told me that the car’s engine was blown and it was like that when I bought it.

The mechanic called Dean who once again didn’t answer. Finally Dean called back and the mechanic told him what happened. Dean asked if I was still there and the mechanic said no even though I was. Dean told him “f**k her, get that car off your property but don’t send it to my lot either it’s her problem she shouldn’t have trusted a used car dealer”!

I called Dean and he said to me, “Too bad for you it’s your problem take me to court” My son is now stuck with a car that doesn’t run and he’s out his $3000.

I went online and looked up D and D Sales and read that this is not the first time Dean or his partner Dave have done this. You can look up D and D Sales and click on the “superpages” link and read the reviews. Please help us to expose these crooks before they do it to someone else.

I also Googled "Dean Hoffinger" and a channel 26 news report came up about him ripping off more people and using fake names. Then your "Rip Off Report" came up with your story about him. I know where to find him and I have a personal phone number.

Dean Hoffinger you wrote that you would check and fix the problem that the oil light was indicating. You have yet to do this and sent me to a mechanic that works out of his house and when he DID NOT fix the problem you told him to "get that car off his property and don't send it to the lot and it's her problem" You then told me to take you to court which I see by perusing the court records website that's exactly what many many people have done, taken you to court. Even channel 26 news knows what a sleaze you are, they know you by name. The very bottom line is you agreed and documented you would fix the problems with the car and you have failed to do so, BREACH OF CONTRACT. Your a vulturous predator that makes his living scamming people and you can't treat people the way you do so somebody's going to get you one way or another you've burned way too many people. I don't know how or when or who but Karma is nothing to play with. And I uploaded the as is warranty where you wrote down you would fix the problems the car has. The proof is in the pudding as they say.

You knew IN ADVANCE there were problems with this car.  You knew IN ADVANCE about the oil pressure problem as evidenced by the oil light being on.  Yet, YOU still bought the car!!!!!  Absolutely incredible!!!
