Complaint Review: Dave & Gail Durczynski - D&G Preferred Properties - Toledo Police Department - Toledo Ohio

We previously lived in Toledo Ohio and rented from Dave & Gail Durczynski. We had lived there for five years. There were repeated criminal activities by former tenants and current tenants. We complained but nothing was repeatedly done. The Toledo SWAT Team raided one of their properties in our neighborhood. There were repeated arrests made before. This last time was the worst! We decided to write to the Toledo Police advising them what we were seeing everyday and every night. I wrote to our landlord at the time what was going on. His statement to us was that he was a very good friend of the police Chief Mike Navarre on the Toledo Police Department. What happened next was a nightmare for months! The landlord informed the people who were involved in the criminal activity and sent them to speak to us about it! He then informed us that nothing would be done because these people had friends and family on the police department. The police were called repeatedly with only two arrests actually being made. We called the police because the people decided to keep us awake all night long. Loud music, pounding on the walls till our pictures came off the wall, threats of a firebomb going to be thrown through our windows, along with vandalizing my husband's truck. After months of going through this and the police telling me I needed to file rent in escrow I did. Right before the court date our landlord moved these certain people to another one of their properties. The last day that they were moving they released several rodents they were breeding to feed their pet which infested our apartment. After these people moved out we noticed several more criminal activities going on with our other neighbors who are also renting from the same people. I personally sent pictures of the activity to the Vice Metro Unit the the Toledo Police Department. We called repeatedly to let them know what was going on, and even attending Block Watch meetings. Still nothing by then was done at all. Our landlord came over to tell us quote You had better watch it or its gonna bite you in the a*s. Next we received a dead rodent in our mailbox along with nasty notes. We received verbal threats constantly. We had cements slabs and bricks wedged against our door, lit fireworks thrown at us when we would go to leave, our phone and internet lines cut, still nothing done. When we informed our landlord about it his exact words, that's because you have everyone around here pissed off at you. The last straw was we received two bullets in our mailbox. We got the message. Also this same landlord was cited for having illegal workers who were unlicensed to get the bad wiring fixed in our apartment. We moved to another location but we have also heard more and more complaints about these same people. Even though I am out of there I still cannot sleep at night and when i do I have nightmares. Another thing to mention when I was sending the pictures of what was going on, two police officers, the landlord and the criminal neighbors involved called the police on us. We were told by the police officers that we were stalking them, yet other officers told us previously to take pictures for proof as long as they were all outside in the open, which they were. I then sent a final letter to Chief Navarre pretty much stating my anger and my opinion of corruption. Also when our basement repeatedly flooded his response was Call the city, yet he not only repaired their basement flood damage from the storms he replaced their windows. We saw him repeatedly over at these peoples apartment very early in the morning and also saw him partying with them. I have saved everything except for the dead rodents. I and my law abiding neighbors were hoping something would be done, it never was. All we wanted was justice!
