I received a letter from Dealer Services tonight that just really irritated me and I wanted to do something.

First, the letter is 100% misleading, and to some would seem to be directly from the dealer. I recently bought a new GM vechicle, and declined the added warranty so I wonder if this is how they got my name?!

What bothered me:

a) The logo for Dealer Services is "DS" in white letters, in a blue box, with a white underline under the DS. The spitting image of the GM logo. This alone should be a copyright infringement and is very misleading.

b) The fact that they bolded the text "FINAL NOTICE" more than once practically pulled the curtain back for me. I'd never received an initial notice.

c) The whole offer revolved around employee pricing and 0% financing. ON A WARRANTY??!?!

The letter closes with options for opting out of further prescreened offers. The way I see it, contacting them by these means is nothing more than verifying I exist.

In short, if you are offering a legitimate service, why not be up-front about it? The logo truly irritated me, as well as the urgent verbiage - though I do receive plenty of DM mail with that.

I just couldn't help think of friends and family that could easily fall prey to this nonsense.

I feel bad about the guy with the Dodge that was affected by this.

Someone should do something about this.

Jim We don't know you. Dealer Services and NAWS is in Missouri and you are posting from where? So you ask the consumer to get a number and you will check it out for them? I don't understand...please clarify why they are going to trust that you are giving them a correct answer? People; the company made unsolicited, telemarketing calls. I know as I made them; I worked there. As I understand, they just stopped making these calls the last part of July because of fraud charges from the attorney general of Missouri and fines from calling those on DoNotCall lists. Also, Verizon sued them for calling their customers' cell lines; also the state of Arizona has something going against them, also.

I keep having to spread this around. Alot of people are confusing Dealer Services or National Auto Warranty Services in Wentzville, MO with other companies. They do NOT dial outbound to their customers. The best way to figure out who's calling you is to do something along these lines: 1. Answer the call cordially. Play along and act interested 2. The first representative you talk to is likely just screening calls so you might have to agree to speak with a specialist or a sales person. 3. Go through the sales pitch and tell them you need to call them back with your credit card number. 4. Once you get a callback number post it here. I can check to see as to who the phone number belongs to and I can also verify it with the utility company.

I use to work for the auto warranty company in Plantation, Fl you are correct about the scam. They make about $250,000 a week in deals scamming elderly people and individuals who have brought vehicles. They purposely target older individuals because of vulnerability. I quit because the environment was completely unprofessional, there are no background checks for employees, there are convicted felons who have disclosed to me that they steal credit card numbers and information from individuals. I was absolutely shocked how they taught us in training how to treat customers. We were told to hang up if they ask for a supervisor, curse them out if they get upset, and lie to them saying we are going to take there name off the list. I only stayed for a week. I'm an honest person and it was unbearable hearing people as old as 93 begging and pleading for the phone calls to stop. I'm going to inform my local tv station, this place needs to be shut down. We read from scripts, lying about how long we have been in business and that we are affiliate with numerous manufactory and dealerships nationwide and in Canada. We even have to lie about what we cover for people's cars. On top of these issues they were extremely prejudice towards three new employees whom are gay. Management openly criticize and ostracized these guys about their sexual preference. The result was they quit after a few days. They allowed employees to partake in gay bashing and made it uncomfortable for them to work there. So on top of selling scams we have a horrible work environment. Anyone who needs employment can be hired without background checks. We have several convicted felons working there. At least two individuals have disclosed to me that they were convicted of a felony, one said he killed someone with his vehicle and his license is forever revoked. The other one wouldn't not speak about his conviction but I later learned from another employee that he molested a child. That was it for me, being a victim of molestation myself I could no longer work for a company who not adequately do background checks of people. I had to quit. The company uses an auto dialer system in which a recording is played and you have two options; press one for a rep, or two to be taken off the list. Pressing one for a rep, we basically ask you for your make, model, mileage, and year of your vehicle. Afterwards we start the lying immediately, asking for your number just in case we get disconnected, when we really are pulling information about you through whitepages.com. We read from scripts telling ALL customers that there vehicle warranty has expired even if they brought a brand new vehicle. We may be based in Plantation,Fl but the number we have on everyone's caller ID are from Detroit, Michigan. They tell us to sell urgency, to lie and tell the customer that your manufacture and dealer of your vehicle informed us that your warranty has expired and that this your last and final call(which it isn't). $50 bucks a deal. When people try to cancel them, they still charge their credit cards. I have several people nationwide whom have protested to this and are trying to take legal action to no avail because the number is untraceable. They won't sell to anyone in Florida because they fear being found. Even the number is bogus, for Miami the only area code being used are 954, 305, 754, and 561. When a customer asked me where our location was and I informed her, a closer yelled saying how we aren't suppose to tell and if they ask avoid answering or hang up. The quality of people, services offered, and that sense of urgency is bogus!!! Please people be smart, if you want an extended warranty speak with your dealership first because I quit this job because of the obvious scam we were taught to do to innocent people. If you see this information on your phone RUN!!!!! I'm not vindictive or malicious in any way, I chose to leave, I have nothing to gain from this, but people should be informed with valuable knowledge about telemarketing schemes, I hope I can save a few individuals time and money. Well they sent me one two but I dont have a dodge. So I did not find it at all allarming if they want to use ds . So you never contacted them. So what exactly is there to fall prey to? How have they victumized you ? They sent you a card as a final notice to extend your warranty. Is that in any way a crime. Infact you dont need to confirm you exist. They already knew it or you wouldent have the card. The fact is there is no crucifix on top the dealerships where people buy cars at. They are not a non for profit organization. So of cource they make money off you . Even if it means selling you information. The other part of it is . You bought a car. So the warranty people are trying to save you the associated expences of repair. Most manufactures only give you till 3 years or 36 k milage. The reason for that is because they know after that it will break. SO they dont want to cover it . This is why they make extended warranties. The unfortunate part is . When you dont get one at the dealership. They let every one know . The sell a listing and make a little bit of money. Since you didnt make them a big comission boost by getting one at point of purchase. They take the little bit they can make on selling you out to allmof the warranty harassment divisions.

Jl person, let me first start by saying that I've never worked for this company so I'm not here to "defend our honor". But your comments are spoken like someone who didn't read before they signed. Let's begin. 1. "The logo for Dealer Services is "DS" in white letters, in a blue box, with a white underline under the DS. The spitting image of the GM logo. This alone should be a copyright infringement and is very misleading." A lot of logos look similar, but I learned in kindergarten that D and S are different letters than G and M. 2. "The fact that they bolded the text "FINAL NOTICE" more than once practically pulled the curtain back for me. I'd never received an initial notice." You never recieved an initial notice? I guess you already forgot about that first paragraph you wrote about declining the added warranty at the dealer. That would be considered an initial notice. 3. "The whole offer revolved around employee pricing and 0% financing. ON A WARRANTY??!?!" 0% financing on an auto warranty is standard. There are over 100 different companies that offer this. 4. "In short, if you are offering a legitimate service, why not be up-front about it? The logo truly irritated me, as well as the urgent verbiage - though I do receive plenty of DM mail with that. I just couldn't help think of friends and family that could easily fall prey to this nonsense." Finally, the letters are always up front and tell you everything you are calling about except price. I've read them all and called each one of these companies to mess with them and they are all the same. If you want an auto warranty, then that's what they are offering. There are no smoke and mirrors. Just like we learned in grade school kids. Read the instructions before taking the test.
