Dean's Professional was called for a routine furnace cleaning and inspection. After the cleaning, the inspection showed a cracked heat exchange. The service tech said the only course of action to correct the situation was replacement of the furnace.
I asked the service tech if the furnace would still be under warranty and he said it was too old. I asked the service tech if the heat exchange could be replaced and he said that it could not. The service tech could not provide a break down (parts, labor, travel, etc) of the $4300 for replacement of the furnace, nor could he provide a model number. He proceeded to remove the furnace and leave to return at a later day to complete the job.
After the service tech left I called the original installer of the furnace to check on the warranty and was told that not only could the heat exchange be replaced for a fraction of the cost, it was still under warranty. They also quoted a new furnace installation at $2500-$3000.
I called to cancel the installation with Dean's and make payment for the cleaning/inspection. I was later contacted by the service tech and told that I would be charged $440 for the removal of the furnace. I later spoke with a manager at Dean's office and he was rude, insulting and threatening.
