I am so sad to have to report that I had a puppy that could have easily been saved . I trusted Debra Daniels so I did not seek a new opinion until it was too late for my puppy. I was able to save the other puppies in the litter who were newer to the parasite called Giardia.

I did not know about Giardia and had a puppy with Diarrhea, weight loss and no appetite. No blood in diarrhea and Parvo fecal negative.

Dr Daniels gave the puppy amoxicillin and I had to go in daily for 5 days for the puppy to get fluid under the skin. The puppy could not eat and was getting thinner each day. Finally the puppy came near death and I had another puppy at home that was very sick too. I wish I had sought a second opinion from another Vet, but I trusted Daniels. Finally I was losing faith in her and I started to call dog breeders who told me the puppy sounded like it had a GIARDIA infestation and it was in the late stages. Giardia is easy to cure in just a several doses of Flagyl  over 3 days and the first couple doses of medication will start to make the puppy better

I was so happy and excited as I  raced to Dr Daniels office to tell her and to get the medication.  I do not have the owrds to describe the pain and anguish I felt when she turned me down and  refused to offer my puppy this one chance and I was sent home with my puppy to die.

I did not know that Veterinarians can have a major ego. I just wanted to save my puppies life. What a mistake to tell Dr. Daniels that a breeder had told me that the puppy probably had Giardia. The Vet  rolled her eyes. When I  say this reaction I was sick inside and I begged for the medication called Flagly.

Dr Daniels told me flat NO, that the puppy had a fecal test and the test did not show Giardia cells.

I told her I had done research online and that 60% of fecals  for Giardia come back negative and I again begged her to please give me the medication because the puppy would die and what would it hurt to give the puppy a chance

Dr Daniels did not listen to me and so I drove  home and called the breeder who told me to come to her house tomorrow and get the medications. I told her I needed it now and she sent me to the Petsore to look for Fish medication that is called Metrondiazole. That is the medical name for Flagyl. The Petstore was out of this medication.

My puppy died that night but to save the sibling I drove aa 4 hour round trip to the Bay Area to the breeder's house to get the Flagly. The sibling who was so weak she couldnt walk and was thin from not eating for 4 days was saved with the medication

The sibling of my puppy is now 6 years old but I often think about the needless death of my baby that could have been saved if Dr Daniels had not let her ego effect her treatment. She just could not handle that a breeder and a customer knew the answer despite she saw the puppy fading every day getting worse .

Dr Daniels never apologized to me even after I told her I got the Flagy from a breeder and it worked on the sibling.
