Purchased Dimension 2300 in mid November. I discovered that spelling checker did not work because they had installed Word Perfect and not MS Word. I did not know that MS Word was required to make the spelling checker work so I called Dell Customer Service and Tech support to see if they could do anything to solve the problem.

The lower eschelons of Customer Service were very pleasant and most (about 20 that I talked to in the next week and a half) made some effort to help but without success. I was told by one representitve, that she could trade out the Word Perfect program for a program containing MS Word. I waited about a week and the exchange program never arrived so I called again.

This time I wound up with a lady who frankly didn't have any Idea how to resolve my problem, so I asked to speak to a Manager.

The manager started out in a typical cool and well rehearsed fashion but soon changed to a very rude person who refused to answer my questios and would only recite the following:

"You purchased a refurbished unit and should have read the listing before you purchased the unit""We will not allow you to return the unit because it has been over 14 days since you purchased the unit". He repeated that in response to everything I said from that point on. This I found very non professional and just plain rude. They caused it to go betond the 14 days by improperly responding to my quieries.

I will never buy another Dell product(I have 5 now)and to me it seems rediculas that they would loose a good customer over such a simple problem.

Word for the wise: If you buy a Refurbished Dell Computer use extreme caution to make sure everything works the first day you receive it and be prepared to ship it back quickly if you even suspect anything isn't right. It appears to me that they had a surplus of Word perfect software and put it in my system knowing that it would not allow another function to work.

For the business I am in, A spelling checker is an absolute must.
