Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I purchsed a Dell Inspiron 1720 for my son at Christmas as a gift. I was promised 2 rebates. One for $75.00 and a visa gift card for $200.00. I was told I would receive them in 6-8 weeks.

Yesterday I was passed to 7 different people within Dell (credit card, automated services and various others) who either denied I was entitled to the rebate or didn't know what to do. One man even put the phone down on me when I asked to speak to his supervisor.

Today I spoke to a Mr Shally who told me Dell could not give visa gift cards out anymore and that they have recalculated my rebate and I am only due $150.00 for which they are going to apply this to my account. I asked this man, had I not called about my rebate being so late would they have applied this anyway. His response was no. I also asked him why they had recalculated the amount. He told me I was incorrectly informed at the time my order was placed. I also asked him if I did not want this amount applying to my account what would happen. He said I would loose the rebate.

I alos asked him for his head office and the name of the CEO. He laughed at me and said "did I honestly think the man in charge would answer my letter?". He then proceded to give the the address of his office from where he was calling from.

I asked for a letter of appology for which he said I would get an e mail outlining my request to have the $150.00 applied to my account. The more I argued with him that it was not my request but that I was entitled to have a $200.00 visa gift card the more he talked over the top of me and his parting shot was its either the $150.00 applied to my account or nothing.

He also claimed in another e mail he sent to me yesterday that he had tried personally to contact me that day but no one answered the phone. I explained I had been out of work sick the last few days and nobody from dell had tried to call me to which he said there must be something wrong with your phone.

Dell charge such extravagant interest rates and yet despite all the money they are making they do something like this. The $75.00 rebate they sent to me is in the form of a coupon I have to spend online to purchase Dell products. This is a total and absolute rip off and I am extremely disappointed with the company and their execution of what is supposed to be good customer service
