Direct Buy KM Group LLC They sold me a membership contract and then closed their doors 3 months latter Chantilly Virginia
In July of 2011 (only 3 months ago) I joined the DIrect Buy discount buying service in Chantilly VA., then on Oct 12, 2011 I recieved an email stating that the Chantilly club would be closing its doors in 2 days on Oct 15, 2011.
They informed me in the email that the only recouse I had was to use the club in Woodbridge VA or several MD. clubs, this is not acceptable to me because they are over2 hours drive from my house. I contacted the main office in MN. and all they told me was that I was out of luck that the local club makes the deals and that the contract does not ensure that an office will stay open for any period of time.
I dont see how they can allow their francisers to sell contracts for 10 years of service when the franchise has no intention of staying in business. Direct Buy could not tell me why the franchise closed, but I heard rumors at the end of September that the owner was just tired of working and was thinking of closing. Direct Buy sells contracts for services over a long period of time (not short term contracts) and I find it appauling that they allow their franchisers to sell contracts in their name and then take the money and run without providing $1 of service. Someone needs to regulate these rip-off artists and make them put some minimal guarantee of services before an office can close.
If they are allowed to do this then they will start to sell contracts and closing their doors in different cities to defraud people as a normal business practice. I dont see how they can allow their francises to sell contract which they have NO INTENTION of honoring and in my case that is what they did, they sold a contract and had no intention of being in business to fullfill their contract.
I also find it appauling how casual the National Direct Buy finds that their is no problem that they are allowing their franchisers to pull off this FRAUD and sell contracts that they do not intend to honor.
