I ran into the same situation. Purchased my own 120.00 dollar receiver, paid 5 dollars a month to "rent" the equipment, but had to return it to them when the service was terminated. Apparently when you purchased the equipment I am told there was a sticker that stated the equipment is basically "loaned" and property of Direct TV. Regardless if you have the contract that states otherwise. When you purchased the receivers, they are automatically added to your account as a Direct TV receiver. I am now looking for that class action lawsuit, I believe there is one in the works for this same issue. I am now out my $120.00.
