Direct TV Past due amount not owed by me...."bundle" was made null and void by Verizen. El Segindo , California
I have had nothing but problems with Direct TV. Not only do they NOT send a copy of a contract with specific wording, they also will not give copies of any correspondence between them and the telephone company which did not credit the account.
I took over my daughters Direct TV account because they would not work with her when she could no longer afford it. She had a "bundle" with Direct TV and Verizon Telephone service. In July/2010, Verizon sold the phone service in my area to another phone company, New Frontier. This sale made the bundle null and void.
Verizon was paid in full but did not credit Direct TV. I have a paid in full receipt from Verizon plus my daughter even received a refund of twenty-one dollars from them. Direct TV is saying I still owe $136.61 so I am disputing this.
On September 8, 2010 I spoke with a representative of Direct TV (Vanessa)....it was decided that I could make payments of $11.00 a month added to my current bill until the "past due" amount was paid in full. Last month I did just that.
I paid my current bill plus the $11.00. This month I get a past due demand that my service will be terminated if the full amount is not paid by October 21, 2010. This rep, Rob, said there is no record of the arrangement nor could there be as they do not accept payment plans.
Last night, Oct. 15, 2010, the DVR stopped working. This morning when I called to make arrangements to have a tech come to fix it or to have another box sent, Rob said a new box cannot be sent until the past due amount is paid!
I will be canceling Direct TV next July, 2011 when the contract is up. Direct TV is a rib off! It took six weeks to get the DVR working when we got the Service last May....were without service for about a month but did they offer a discount? NO! I am on Social Security, a fixed income, no other source of income so making this payment will cause me to go hungry for at least three weeks as I will have to use grocery money.
I will be telling anyone and everyone who asks me about Direct TV of the extremely shoddy service and how much they rip off from we consumers. This is wrong! I had nothing to do with the sale of Verizon or with Direct TV NOT being paid by Verizon...but I have to pick up the bill!
