I became a Direct Tv customer about 2 months prior to this particular posting, and when I initiated my service I spoke to a very uneducated woman by the name of Joyce.  This woman told me that I qualified to obtain four HD DVR recievers for my home, yet she told me that I would have to wait thirty days to claim them, but for the time being she allowed me to have two recievers.  Thirty days later I called and spoke to a man who told me that I should have obtained the DVRs when I initiated service, and he also told me that it was too late to claim them and the cost to obtain just one DVR would be $168.00.  Naturally I argued and he told me that I should be angry because I was lied to, he even joked and said maybe Joyce sent it to her address.  I became enraged and demanded to speak to management.  I was put on the line with a supervisor who told me that I indeed was lied to, that I should have obtained the DVRs from jump street, yet, unfortunately, she also told me it was too late to get them.  I told her that Joyce created a legally binding verbal contract with me, and since Joyce lied, the contract is void.  The supervisor told me that I have a contract with Direct TV and if I were to cancel service then there would be a fee, and I told her that the contract was violated, I told her it was now void, yet she told me that didn't matter.  I then asked her if Direct TV was above the law and she told me the law would be no help for me.  She told me to either keep the service or pay the fee.  Well it got a bit heated, I asked once more if Direct Tv was above the law, I recieved an affirmative answer, I threatened to get a lawyer, but it was merely an abstract threat because I could never afford such an endeavor, and she told me "Go right ahead".  It was the absolute worst customer service I have ever seen and I work at Walmart for goodness sakes.

No reason why you should not have been able to get them

I think policies that some companies fall back on are pretty pointless. I understand you're under contract but I think to demonstrate good service they should have given them to you. Its the little things that count.
