On 11/10/10 I refered my sister to Direct tv, they have the refer a friend and both will recieve a 100.00 worth of credits (10.00 per month for 10 months).  She had all of the reguired information, all she needed was my account #.  When she gave the sales rep my account number she said no such account existed and told my sister to have me call her on her direct line and giver her my account number, which I verified my sister had the correct number, and she would make sure we both got the bonus.  I tried four times to reach this lady, when I was paying the deposit for my sister I had no problem getting through to her, she never returned any of my calls.

I e-mailed direct tv about this and then they e-mailed me back stating that since my sister did not go through their website, which she does not have internet, or call a referral line I did not qualify for the bonus.  No where on thier website or commercials does it state that you have to do any of these two things.

Direct tv is a crooked company, first they wanted me to pay 100.00 to upgrade to HD, when I can go to thier competition, Dish network and get a free HD/Dvr receiver and Free HD for life.  Then they screw me out of a 100.00.  I am droping them like a hot potatoe and going to Dish network as soon as I post this report.

I am sure that Directv gave you an equipment offer or discount when you orignally signed up, tool

Why don't you post back in a couple of years, when you want to add another Dish Network HDDVR and let me know how much it costs you. You are going to find out there will be a charge for that as well.

You could have switched "Dish network" and "Direct tv" in your original post and the identical situation would exist. That is upgrades after the original install are charged for. Now I do know that there are offers and discounts out there for existing customers, much like the $100 discount that Directv offered you, but it doesn't always mean that you will get free equipment.
