I wish I had found this site a long time ago. In May,2011, we moved to a new home. We had been with Direct tv for years and cancelled our service and paid our final bill. We did this because we moved to a temporary home while our new house was being readied. When we called back to start service, we inquired about the internet service and also told the person we would like satellite service in four rooms with all rooms having HDTV. We were told we would that they have to pay a 225.00 deposit because of the internet. My husband paid it with his debit cardth. After he paid it,we were told they could offer service for 2 rooms and we could add the other 3 later. My husband asked why he wasnt told this before he paid. The customer service rep did everything to get him told agree to this. He told them no,he wanted his money back.The rep said a supervisor would have to call back. They never did at first. After several calls on our part,we were finally told we couldn't get our money back because we owed a prior balance of 188.00. We still don't see how,but,my husband finally told themTh told take the 189.00 out and send us back the rest.They said they couldn't. The money was put in some kind of suspended account. We kept calling with no results. The last call, the guy on the phone screamed and said there was no use to keep calling we weren't getting the money back.. We never got the service money or. anything. We. went to. Dish,service in all 4 rooms, no deposit. The only reason I didn't continue to pursue this is my husband had aserious heart attack and hadn't been well since.
