Channel 637 and 738 are 2 of my extra inning channels i pay 139.00 a season for, to see MLB games. Now 2 weeks from end of the regular season a big series Indian at WhiteSox and directv has a info. bar on those stations saying call ext. 721 to order.

I'm furious i paid these people 139.00 and the biggest series of the regular season begins tonight and they want me to pay 12.00 to see it thru ordering it special when i already did.

This is the kind of crap that should not be tolerated by any of our consumer advocate groups, better buisness bureau, the consum-ers themselves, nor me.

I know i'm not alone hear and whenever we get a class action lawsuit against i'm in, but they already know that,. i told them on the phone tonight

738 also said call ext 721 for ordering,if the blackout was in affect, directv should not have had it available, secondly blackout ruels 250 miles away in another state is raping the consumer that pays for these sports packages, this is a cincinn- ati reds area of the country cleveland is 5hrs from here cinci is 2,i checked the other channels and the game wasn't on,after 25 min.on the phone with the svc rep,she said i should have the game and that she was gonna talk to a supv.to straight-en this out, came back and said that i must order this game special,i asked how much that was and she said $12.00 or 12 something.i also know that to get a blacked out game, you need a decoder cabable of scanning millions of codes in a short period of time and cabable of descrambling once the code is broken.its called pirating and if i was one i wouldn't be paying for a sports package. lets admit it, piraters steal from satelite co- mpanies and satelite companies do the same to the consumers, but the satelite companies get the pir-aters in court and we just get ripped off.

Blackout Restrictions

As stated by the previous responder, channel 637 is probably your Regional Sports Network. That channel is normally provided to you for free with your base package, unless a blackout is in effect. When you purchased MLB Extra Innings, DTV should have informed you of the blackout restrictions that come with the package. Some things that may help next time include : 1. First check if the game that you want to watch is viewable on the MLB Extra innings package (channels in the 700's, not channel 637). If not, available, go to step 2. 2. Check your Local Regional Sports Network, channel 637. If not available, go to step 3. 3. Check your local stations that may carry the game. Your best bet is FOX. If not available, go to step 4. 4. Check if the game is being broadcast nationally, usually by ESPN, ESPN2, WGN, TBS, etc. If not available, go to step 5. 5. If you have reached step 5, it seems that the game you want to watch is being blacked out in your area. The most common reason is because one of your local cable companies has purchased the rights to that particular game. They often do this as part of the Satellite vs. Cable war. Just remember that DTV can only bring you the games the the MLB will allow them to bring to you. The final decisions are made by MLB, not DTV. If these restrictions were not explained to your during the purchase of the package, I would recommend contacting DTV and explaining the issue. All sports packages are sold with the understanding of being non-refundable, so don't expect to get your money back. Try asking for a monthly discount, a free month of service, or whatever you think may help the situation. Most entertainment consultants want to help, or can transfer you to a supervisor who can help you.

637 is Fox Sports Ohio, which most likely is your RSN. Generally, the only time a game would be blacked out on your RSN and EI is if it was being shown on one of your local channels. Did you call DirecTV and get an explanation?
