I know you said that Directv called you about a day after the original install, was it Directv or the installation company? (I suspect it was the installation company) So the reason that you were getting monthly bills is that your service wasn't really canceled with the company providing it. As far as the early cancellation fee, were you under a commitment for programming before your move?? ========== Larry, the girl identified herself as Directv, not the installation company. I had a previous commitment for a year, when they sent a replacement receiver, but this had since been completed. Unit was replaced when they decided to send a new card. The old unit was always a little stiff when removing/inserting the card the rare time, and it finally died when I put the new card in. I had no complaints about the service while I had it, (and it was still my preferred service if not for my condo balcony facing the wrong direction) but the exit procedure was botched.
