Complaint Review: Divya Carlin - Lake Matthews , Riverside California

 I contacted Divya Carlin regarding a AKC French Bulldog female that is 3 years old that she had advertised on puppyfind.

I introduced myself and my breeding program that i have succesfully had now for 7 years. Explained that I am a state licensed breeder and was looking to add a french female in my program. I went to ask the normal questions that you would ask about her. For example... How old is she? Has she ever been bred, if so, how many times? Is there or has there been ANY health issues with this dog? Who are the parents and their lineage? Is she full akc registation? will she come WITH her papers?

Here was her answer to the following questions: 1. how old is she?.. She replied 3 ( Dont know because I dont have papers)

2. Has she ever been bred/what was the outcome? .... She has had one litter and is due to come into season this month/first of August... She had 4 puppies ( that was a lie... after contacting her vet and demanded health records, shows she has had 2 litters with the last one in May 2013  )

3. Is there or has there ever been ANY health issues?  I was told no.. she had always been a healthy girl ( Lie... She has and has always had a grade 2/3 out of 6 heart murmur.. ( it can KILL your female to be under stress with a heart murmur ) No female should ever be bred with a heart condition!!

4. Who are the parents?... She stated that she has had her since a puppy ( which health records only show the past year or so).. Never answered the question.

5. Is she AKC regisitered? Yes

6. Will she come WITH her papers? Yes

My pet transporter picked up Inki on July 12, 2013.. When she arrived, there were no health certificate or shipping certificate! ( when you travel a dog across state lines by licensed transport, a shipping certificate must be present by USDA laws)

Inki arrived to me July 13th at 3;30pm in the afternoon. She was skinny and her coat looked very dry. I thought, ok, fish oil will be real good for her as Omegaderm 3 is excellent in coat restoration.  Then I noticed that her right ear was infected.. I washed her ear out real good that evening and took her for treatment the following day to my vet who see's ALL my dogs on a regular basis.. At first I was not overly concerned about the ear infection as with proper care and antibiotics , It will clear up and heal... She had a small Hematoma of the ear as well, but should subside with proper treatment.. My vet continued her health exam.. In the paper work that came with her, the health report that HER vet gave her was not included.. now I know why!! She has a grade 2/3 heart murmer!!! I was shocked!!! And I might add that I was mad!! I've been breeding English Bulldogs for nearly 7 years and French Bulldogs for nearly a year, and you know that NO female should ever be bred with this condition. I have been very fortuante and have never had a heart murmur baby!!!

I came home and immd told my husband what vet said. I then got to work.. I called the vet and spoke to him personally about the health of this dog. He told me that in fact she did have a murmur and told Dee Carlin about this condition in which she had already know that the new buyer needs to be made aware of this.... I was not..... He said that he filled out in her paperwork in which Dee decided I guess what not important to send or notify me of this BEFORE Inki was shipped.. She also did not tell my transporter about this condition because precautions must be made with this breed, much less with a heart murmur.. the vet did email me over full report.. In which showed the following:

Heart Diesase, Congenital heart defect, heart murmur of 2/3 of a 6.. It also showed that infact she had 2 c sections while in his care!! Same as my vet reported about the heart diesase, heart defect and murmur. Showed her last litter was May 2013... ( hard for a dog to be coming into season again since she had JUST barely weaned a litter!!!

I started placing calls to Dee Carlin the minute of obtaining health report. I even text her over a picture of the report. She did return my call after a couple of hours ( she was in doctor appts ) and assured me that it was OK to BREED her!!! I asked why the AKC papers were not with her on delivery, and she said that she mailed them, which I still to this day do not have.. I told her that I wanted to talk with her vet again, my vet and another vet that I have used alot as well and I would call her back.

I called her back the next day. I told her that all 3 vets recommended that this female be spayed for her health and safety. Dee agreed and said that I could have her spayed, keep her and that she would replace the female with a puppy that she was keeping back for herself ... We agreed for that to happen. She said that she would be happy to ship the puppy to me... She was very nice throughout this decision... Until now......

I have called, text, emailed and begged her to call. She said that she was going to ship the new puppy, Juliet to us this past Thursday ( 7/25/13) we NEVER received the flight info but my husband went to the airport to make sure so the poor puppy would not be sitting down there... She said that I would have to pay for her shipping in which I said I would ( I was NOT happy about it considering I had already paid $400 for shipping for a sick dog).. then she included that she WOULD NOT be sending papers with her "plain and simple"... Now... if I am a breeder, what would I do with a puppy for my program that was NOT akc regisitered and having the papers ?? by this point, I got angry!!! I have text her everyday since and tried calling everyday... She said ( I have it recoreded ) that she would call at 8 her time , which is 10 my time.. No phone call ever came...

One of my final text to her was that she has forced me to obtain an attorney and to go public.. No response.... being a breeder myself, I am NOT about drama.... This is NOT drama!!! This is putting a life in danger that she shows she cares nothing about!!! I WILL stand up for this poor dog and protect her from being resold to a crap breeding progam and her be killed by a untrained "backyard or puppy mill breeder" becuase that is exactly what she would do!! She wouldnt care what happened to this poor little baby as long as she had her money!!!  I also know by reading others, that she will make an etempt to bash me as well.... Please keep in mind that if she does, She always seems to be blaming others in return for HER bad breeding practices.. My prayer is that NO others be hurt by her... I will continue my good breeding practices and stand behind every dog that we sell!!!!

I plan on moving forward in doing whatever I have to do with her to protect her!!! I urge ANYONE that has been scammed by her to PLEASE find a way to contact me...
