I made an agreement with Atlas Choice in  November, 2013 to rent a van in January, 2014. I was charged a total of $393.98.

I didn’t realize that Atlas Choice was in the UK until I saw the Foreign Transaction Fee. I was in Istanbul, Turkey when I made the agreement.

Atlas Choice sent me confirmation letters and a link to obtain a voucher. As well, they sent these instructions:

<<To ensure that your car hire in USA Texas goes as smoothly as possible, we have summarised some important information for you.

Make sure you have:

Two copies of the prepaid voucher;

Your Driver Licence (and your International Driver Licence if required);

Passport or other acceptable proof of identity – passport AND proof of address if required;

A copy of the supplier’s terms and conditions – Print out your specific T&C and make sure you are aware of Atlaschoice general T&C;

Credit card in the lead driver's name - the lead driver must be in possession of a valid major credit card with sufficient funds available to cover the excess and fuel deposit,Visa Debit/Electron, Solo or Maestro are NOT accepted(Please be aware that for any luxury cars 2 major credit cards are required).

If you fail to present any of the above mentioned documents, you may not be given the car and you will not be entitled to any refund!>>

I had everything that was needed except for the international driver license, since I am a US citizen). I called Dollar Rent a Car and spoke with a representative there. I called to ensure that all would be ok with my rental.

Then I flew with my wife, daughter and granddaughter to Houston (two stops). I was ill with a cold and my ears were closed when I arrived in Houston. It was evening and we were tired. We went to the Dollar Rent a Car desk and spoke with Mani. He would not let me have the vehicle without an international driver license. I asked to see a manager. Rodney came after about 15-20 minutes and also refused to let me have the vehicle. He would not give me anyone else to contact. He refused to put in writing that I was being refused the vehicle.  I informed him that I had called Dollar that day in order to ensure all would be ok. I had no concerns.

I called the Dollar call center, again, and spoke with Becky (employee #2710036). She told me that the manager could make the decision to let me have the car.

I was only offered by Mani to re-rent the van at double the price I had already paid.

I have been writing Emails and Facebook Emails to Dollar and to Atlas Choice, but nothing has yet been resolved. I am told it may take 28 days to have it resolved from Atlas Choice.

I am in Texas for my son’s wedding, and need this money to be refunded ASAP. I have been defrauded, so if you can just fix it, all will be fine on my end.
