My Dollar rental record is YP2048793

I arrived at IAH (Houston International) on 1/28/13.  I travel to Houston once a month and always rent a car.  I am 50 years old, and probably have spent an average of a week per month renting a car for the last 25 years, so I am not new to this game.

This was the first time I had rented from Dollar in a long time.  At the desk, I specifically told the agent that I did not want any insurance, that I did not want to pre-pay for gas, and that I did want the electronic toll option.  She was very friendly, and asked me to "sign here".

Minutes before returning the car on 1/31/13, I filled up at EXXON MOBIL 47943279 (which is literally across the street from the airport) for a total of $30.70.  The needle was way past full.

When I returned the car, I was asked for a receipt for gas by the return agent.  I told her that I did not have one, but that I filled up across the street, and she could see that the tank was full.  She said it was a requirement;  with no receipt she would have to charge me for "a gallon" of gas.  I showed her that the tank was full.  It did not matter.  The ONE GALLON of gas cost me $20.55.

She then printed the receipt.  I was charged a total of $95.96 for insurance.  I indicated that I had specifically informed the desk agent that I did not want insurance.  She told me to refer to my contract.  I asked to speak the manager.

The manager, who told me his name was Stan Jones, basically laughed in my face.  I needed to get to my plane, so I had no choice but to leave.

From the terminal, I called Dollar Customer Service, and their response was that I had signed a contract agreeing to pay for all charges, and there was nothing they could do.

Last, I called Hotwire, the company that had arranged the reservation.  My husband and I are loyal customers, and we spend upwards of $10k a year with them.  They listened to my story, and immediately awarded me $150 in Hot Dollars.  HOTWIRE ROCKS!  I have never had such a negative experience with a rental car company, and I WILL NEVER RENT FROM DOLLAR AGAIN!

I have complete documentation on everything stated in the above message.
