I am reaching out to all networks to make this issue public, because this is the last resort for me. I have reached out to the county, Native American Organization, Title Company, and hired an attorney.  But got nowhere with neither of them regarding the matter of being land trapped.   I purchased a house in 2012 where the property next to me is a vacant lot and is the only fire roadway to my property.  Currently, I am being land trapped by the owner of the vacant lot.  Surrounding neighbors have told me that there is an easement for that road and I also found out by neighbors, that the previous owners prior to my purchase where all using this road to get to the property. 

On December 21, 2017 the owner Don Varley, put a chain link fence on my property line and a chain blocking the entrance of the driveway. With all the fires that were happening in Ventura County in the same month, his first priority should have been to take care of all the fallen dead trees on the property for the safety of neighbors.  I have offered Don Varley in the past to help with his weed abatement and dead trees for using the road, but no.   I have no road way to my investment after using it for almost 5 years!

   I have had contractor not return my call because of no roadway access to bring up large tools and/or equipment.   If and when there is an emergency, the fire department will have to cut through the chain and the fence just to get to my property.  I have 3 flight of stairs to get to my house and the stair case are too narrow to bring up a certain appliances.  I have almost an acre of land to maintain and have yearly weed abatement to stay in code by June 1st.  I will have several bags of weeds to load up. I foster and rescue only senior dogs and one of the dog has hip dysplasia.  She now has to struggle, with my help up the stairs.  I am a single female where I cannot bring up 60lbs of cement bags up 3 flights of stairs? 

I have strained my lower back bring up a mattress in a box, carried 2 internally ill dogs down the stairs, cannot take my bike out, will not be able to replace appliances, my 70 year old dad has not been able to visit me because he cannot do the stairs, watched a handyman go up and down the stairs, lost a tenant, cannot have large items delivered because I have no roadway and the list goes on!  When the next earthquake hits, my retaining wall is coming down.  I have had contractors come to look at the wall and told me, they have to have a roadway to work on it.  I contacted the county and was told, “There is nothing we can do because it is private property.  Have a good day.”

  I need to have this matter exposed of how selfish and greedy some people can be and how the law is allowing for an individual to be land trapped from their investment and from an emergency.  How the laws only concerned is the matter of money and not the safety of the citizens who pay their taxes.  How an undeveloped piece of land that has been use as a roadway for over 20 years, does not have an easement.  I was told by an attorney, unless I come up with $50K, go to court, and may not win?  If I had $50K, you don’t think I would be putting in a driveway then to deal with such an a*****e?  But because I lost my job the same year I bought my house, I fell into debt.  So, I cannot do anything but fight for my rights and my investment.   It is clear this road is a necessity for whoever lives on this property.  I am reaching out to be heard, to expose, to change, and get any kind of support to fight this matter.  I thank you for your time in reading this and pray that I hear from someone soon.
