On  4/11/13 at 8:45 a.m. my garage door just simply slammed itself closed and would not budge.  The springs had sprung.

At 9:02 a.m. I called Doormart and spoke with a company representative about having my garage door repaired stating that i needed new springs. I asked for pricing and was told that the technician would have to come and check it out but that they guaranteed that prices would be 5% less than any company in my area. This guarantee was restated with emphasis several times. This was the beginning of the drama of deception!

I was also told i would get a 5% senior discount.

The technician did come and said charges would be $600. I spoke with him about the 5% less than other comapanies and the senior discount. He guaranteed me that this was absolutely reflected in the price quoted. The deception continued.

He fixed the garage door. After he left, i became uneasy about the cost and checked with other companies. $600 is not even close to 5% less than other companies in my area. (for example R&J Erection Co quoted $341 for comparable springs with a 10 year guarantee and wheel replacement and labor)

I called Doormart at 5:56 that evening and spoke with a person who stated he was a manager. This could be true or not.  This is a company that seems to deal in deceptions.  His name was Lavern

I told him about the above and that i was upset because i was lied to. He told me that he/the company did not lie to me but only deceived me. That is a direct quote! And so the deception is admitted but it is emphatically denied that deception is a lie.

I stated that to deceive is to lie and he skirted the issue as he glibly responded that i received good service and parts and that, to him, seemed to justify the deceiving lie. So now the deception is justified.

I again told him that I was lied to and he said he would have to listen to the tape of my original conversation. I stated that if i were taped it was not legal because they was no notification of taping and he quickly changed to another topic. (I did call the company the next day to see if the calls were recorded: there was no such indication that they were) So the lies just kept on coming.

He asked me what i would like him to do to make me happy. I said to please honor the guarantee that was given to me several times at the very start of my conversation that morning and re-affirmed by his technician. He stated that he was a good listener.  That seemed to be an adequate and reasonable response to him.  To him, that justified the deceptions and was the end of the conversation.

So to be in truth about what was guaranteed it seems that the solution  would like to be charge the 5% of $341 plus an additional 5% off as my senior discount which comes to $307.75 OR  to have the company come and remove their product and refund me my money.

Beware of those who feel it is okay to deceive because it is not lying!!!!!
