This firm did this to me with only 3 months left to pay on a 20 year mortgage. I was not in arrears, but their corporate accounting office in Lake Zurich, Illinois was in disarray. I was foreclosed on but with the grace of our attorney (( name redacted by ROR))he put the clamps on this mismanaged mortgage company. The procedures that happened to Mrs. Canvelle are the same tactics they had used against us. I feel bad for Mrs. Canvelle, but for potential mortgage borrowers take notice, "do not use this firm for any mortgage needs".

I am sorry to hear of this unfortunate circumstance, however not knowing all of the details, I cannot tell whether this was a legitimate ruthless business decision on their part or a deceptive practice. Quite honestly I am NOT surprised Dovenmuehle Mortgage did exactly as described to this woman because they have pulled essentially the same stunt with me by requesting full financial disclosure after assurance of an easy loan modification then only turning around and filing a lawsuit. Ironically I was only a few hundred dollars in arrears on a mortgage that was mostly paid down and over 15 years old! They even had the audacity to return my arrereage payment sent via certified check after they had agreed to accept the funds! (An employee in Schaumburg, IL claimed I was a liar and that no one had made such an agreement because I could not produce a name!) My plan is to file a counter suit against DovenMuehle along with AmSouth Bank, then if/when a summons shows up, clock-in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy. If they want to play hard ball, hardball is what they're going to get! Suffice it to say that that my situation is not as dire as your friends, and can resort to other lenders as a fallback, but I intend to make it known to the world that I am not pleased with how these institutions treat their customers and the deceptive practices on the part of their officers, directors and employees. In case you were not aware, both companies have been indicted in the past for fradulent lending practices and the law firm of Ed Combs in Chicago has tried cases against Dovenmuehle. I would suggest you contact them to see if they can assist you or perhaps be interested in a class action against these banks. I can assure anyone reading this post that I am prepared and will not hesitate to aggressively pursue any and all legal remedies against Dovenmuehle and AmSouth until they address my concerns. Should this occur, to be fair, I will post the results. If you are a customer of either AmSouth Bank or Dovenmuehle Mortgage--good luck to you. If not, my advice for what it's worth is AVOID!
