I used to work for this man... He also employed his "common law" wife as his office manager and always tried to hide their relationship, even from the office staff, like we were stupid. His whole scam was to pile up enough money for them to retire on. He was a recipient of the Houston Crime Victims Fund and he would ream that program for fees to "treat" rape victims, etc. He had strong ties to big companies like Shell Oil and ran up their health-care claims. One company had to cancel their entire group policy based on his fees to treat just 1 person on their staff. We had to administer all sorts of personality tests (big bucks) as part of his initial intake protocol. You could just sign on to the machine and do it all day for free if you wanted to! He would charge hundreds, then thousands, for this "important" info. I am sure he paid an access fee but 1 patient's use would cover a year's usage fees. Big on biofeedback, and light therapy for depression. (Put someone in a small room with a lot of light and charge a big hourly fee.) It does rain a lot in Houston. He used his deputy status to intimidate people as well. He would drive his Jeep around with his deputy jacket hanging in the window! haha Some of us in the office thought he used his office to have little "lunch meetings" with some very lovely businesswomen (realtors, decorators) in the area. We were not allowed to approach his office door at certain times, even if the place was on fire! He lives a very lavish lifestyle. His home is filled with animal trophies (heads, full bodies) that he has taken from many parts of the world. It is very creepy. You know thesaying, "It takes one to know one?" Well this guy is a REAL nut-job, and with a name like COVERT he must have been born to it.
