About 2 years ago I was confident about choosing Dr. George Beraka for Gynecomastia/Male breast reduction as he boasted to be one of the foremost authorities in this surgery and ensured that if I was not pleased with the results, he would do whatever it took to fix it.
Unfortunately I would find that was not the case. Things began to go wrong the very week after the surgery. I began to feel incredible pain from the drains and was continuously told for days that it was "normal". But the pain had only gotten worse to the point that very high dosages of pain medications had no effect. After going to the hospital I had found that the drain was improperly placed and had become infected. Not knowing what to do, Dr Beraka loosely prescribed medicine which days later he would tell me not to take. Today, I have very limited feeling in the infected side of my chest and still experience discomfort and bouts of pain.
But that was just the tip of the iceburg. As the weeks and months passed, I noticed the results were not looking right. I began to see major crease/fold lines in my chest and extreme "cratering" of my nipples. Dr. Beraka assured me that this would heal over time and I believed him when he offered the "expert" advice of massaging my chest multiple times daily.
Now over 6 months have passed and the results had only gotten worse. Dr Beraka claimed he has never seen anything like this and had never gotten results like this from his "work". A look into previous malpractice cases may tell you otherwise. He then said he will research this further and to come back again in a few months and we will come up with a solution - clearly trying to push the issue off and hoping I will let it go.
During this time, I had sought other Plastic Surgeons opinions which said that the results are common among cheap plastic surgeons and fixing the "cratering" of my nipples and crease lines is possible. When I went back to Dr Beraka, he had not researched this any further, offered nothing new, and coldly said that he is not willing to do anything about it and that I should just live with the results. When I said that is not acceptable and I will seek a way to get my money back, he boldly said "Go for it".
Today, I live with an awkward looking chest, limited feeling in my left chest, and daily bouts of pain.
I want every prospective patient to fully understand that Dr George Beraka will NOT stand by his results and will be dismissive towards any complaints you have. This "doctor" performs many surgeries but does not understand the impact they have on their patients lives while he pads his wallet with their money. Gynecomastia patients in particular should be fully aware of the risks associated with choosing Dr Beraka and the results they may get and I recommend choosing ANYONE ELSE but the pompous Dr. George Beraka.
