I went to Dr. Michael Barnards office for routine cleaning. I knew that my teeth were fine, from at least 6 months before.

However, when I got there they did a dental exam, claiming that I needed a root canal, 5 cavities filled, and a thing to wear at night so that I would not grind my teeth.

I was shocked, I had just moved to florida and I was referred to this office. When I told the doctor (his associate) that I did not believe I needed this work because I always took care of my teeth throughout my life, and I had just had my teeth cleaned 6 months prior. The the doctor got very upset. Told me that until I had this work done they wouldn't even clean my teeth.

What a RIP OFF...and you know what I am sure this is being done to everyone that goes in that office even if they do not need the work.

I found the office rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend him to anyone.

I have since gone to another dentist, had my teeth cleaned and needed no other work.

When I moved to Fort Lauderdale in 2009 I visited a dentist by the same name who was totally incompetent. He must have spent a total of 2 minutes examining my teeth and said there was nothing wrong. This surprised me since I have visited dentists every 6 months for as long as I know and they usually find at least one filling or other problem that needs attention. Then a month later my dental plan contacts me with questions about services they been billed (which he never performed on me). And I forgot to mention, after my "exam", he jabbed my teeth and gums for about 20 minutes with his metal pick--the most painful dental experience in my life! He quickly brushed my teeth, had me rinse and the whole thing was over, thank God. I have absolutely no confidence in this man as a dental provider.

This is not a surprise..many dentists and doctors in florida are utterly horrible. There is just something about the state of florida that attracts the worst health care providers in the nation-- I think it has something to do with laws being lenient--anything in florida goes..so it's important to check up on a dentist beforehand--I often learned referrals can land you with some of the worst physicians...I learned small town dentists are usually some of the better ones..but still florida is just a state with bad doctors everywhere.
