This is to add to the other million ripoff reports done on Drivetime. I am a current client of Drivetime and I cringe at the sound of their name.

I bought a vehicle from them in March. At this time I filled out my reference list of about 8 people and was told that this was just for reference purposes. Low and behold did I find out only a few months ago that not only were they calling me a week (every day) before my payment was due, but they were calling my references also. And yes they call you "before" your payment is due until you make it. They call you on your job, your home and any number they can find or any number that you call them from (caller id). I was told by an employee that they get commission off of this, so this is why they harrass customers.

Not even a week after I bought my SUV did I have to take it back to have it repaired. Why? My dashboard gauges suddenly stopped working, yes the gas, speed, thermometer, everything. And they referred me to their mechanic who kept my truck for about 3 days for something as simple as a sensor. And no I received no loaner to replace my truck that I hadn't even made a payment on.

Then about 4 months ago my baby and I were stranded on rt 95 around the holidays on our way home to Virginia from New Jersey, because of 3 broken belts that should've been replaced before I bought the vehicle.

And I've gone into the business to make payments and only have the reps call the next day asking for the payment and then call me 2 or 3 times a day. I've been threatend to have my vehicle repoed for being "late" only to find out that they miscalculated my payment and I owed 30.00. Talk about a-holes!!!

If I could do it all over again I would've kept riding around that cold day in March last year. But I listened to my mate and saw the truck that I wanted. Lesson learned. Always follow your gut feeling!! STAY AWAY FROM DRIVETIME or whatever they'll change their name to next year after the lawsuits!!! And yes their cars are well overpriced.. I did my research after buying my truck. Whatever you do get it in writing!!
