Complaint Review: Dunwoody Labs - Atlanta Georgia

First my lab person comes to me and says Dr. Has ordered food testing. She also states that if i have insurance the cost will be $45. If i do not have insurance the cost will be $450. 

I have BCBS so i hand over my insurance info and the $45.  Thinking nothing of it. i was told the TOTAL cost for the  testing was $450 If i did NOT have INSURANCE. Dunwoody is NOT in network with BCBS but they cheerfully bill BCBS DIRECTLY! 

The first i even hear of any of this is a nasty letter from Dunwoody Labs. It states something to the effect, We submitted your bill for 9k (I will have to pull file for exact numbers) plus to BCBS. They paid around $3600, you have received a check, you had best sign it over to us and mail it to us or we are telling your doctor you are bad pay And sending to collections!

I am like what the hell. I look into it. BCBS sent my ‘not soon enough ex‘ the check since the insurance is in his name. I m pretty annoyed with Dunwoody since none of this was what i was told would occur nothing about being out of network. Nothing about BCBS not sending the checks directly to Dunwoody. AND CERTAINLY nothing about testing costing almost 10k!

The Not Soon Enough Ex sends me a check. I sign it and send to Dunwoody Labs. The total amount dunwoody has now been paid is over $3600. (No files in front of me just now for exact numbers) WAY more than the $450 i was told they were charging. The remainer of the 9K bill submitted was written off. I have yet to recieve any test results from this January submission however.  

In April lab people redo testing Since there are zero results on record. They checked my chart nope, no results. Once again I am told I can use my insurance and pay $45 or I can pay the $450 if i do not have insurance. Once again i hear nothing from Dunwoody until weeks after work was done. Before i even hear of any test results i get another letter stating i had best pay them! This time the ‘not soon enough ex‘ sends me a check for a little over $1500. 

this time i call dunwoody and request copies of both sets of results, copies of which i want sent directly to me. I am well within my legal rights to have this lab work sent directly to me. The lab tells me the results have gone to my doctor get them from him. I go into dr office and they only have in my file the results from april testing But still nothing from January testing. I make more calls to Dunwoody to get test results. 

I call Dunwoody yet again and say listen you are billing me for two sets of tests. I only have one set of results. I have a second check here for the $1500 plus you billed to BCBS but I am not doing a thing until i get test results from you. I explain i am legally entitled to have the lab send them to me. At this point i am seeing new doctors for auto immune problems. I wanted to bring them these test results.  

I explain clearly Dunwoody rep ‘you want your money I want to get results of the lab work you actually did. No work, no money.’ After all they are not lawyers, they need to produce work results to get paid. I need you to send me results directly. NADA response! This is like my forth request for results to be sent directly to me. The check is sitting on my counter for something like three months waiting on Dunwoody to send me the results for both sets of tests they ‘supposedly’ ran. The ‘not soon enough ex’ texts me saying you have best cash that check or i am cancelling payment. 

At this point Dunwoody knows they have only one set of test results. On top of that the April test results (I collected at my doctors office) Dunwoody claims they did, that are for me and accurate have said i can eat something i know from experience i have a very bad immune response to.  I cannot send the check back to BCBS since the check i had did not come from them. I finally deposit the check into my account figuring eventually if Dunwoody wants to get that check they can d**n well send the results i (and BCBS) was billed for. 

the total amount due Dunwoody at this time was slightly over $1500. Way over the original $450 i was orignilly told they were charging. So yesterday still with zero test results i get not one BUT TWO bills supposedly owed by me, TOTALING OVER 7K!!!! Again a nasty letter threatening me ruining my credit ! STILL Dunwoody has refused to send me my test results. 

i attemot to call these clowns one more time. I get a receptionist yet again. I request to speak with the CEO of Dunwoody labs. She comes back after around 10 minutes on hold and says can i get your name. Nope i say. I just would like to speak with you CEO. She says well can I get what this is in reference to. Once again i say No I would just like to speak with the CEO or his admin. Nope not possible. 

Not only is Dunwoody sending me test results that are clearly wrong but now they are billing me the total amount they claim the testing costs, clearly disreguarding both what their doctor they ‘had an arrangement with’ AND what they themselves billed me for.

All because i insisted in receiving my test they were billing for. my opinion is Dunwoody Labs is a corrupt organization that is not only over billing BCBS but comitting fraud on their clients. From the other statements made by people on even just this state looks like i am justified in my thinking. They hve non-existent management too Which i find highly suspicious also.

I am actually livid at these clowns. Not only am i am reporting to BCBS but also to the FBI and the attorney general of Georgia. This lab appears so,shady to me. I never once approved spending anything over 45 on these clowns.
