Complaint Review: Edgar And Jennifer Basillio - Las Vegas Nevada

I moved into a group home from the psych hospital on 12/11/07. I was told by Jennifer when I moved into their group home that it would be my home for as long as I wanted. Well then they started to move everyone in as long as they could pay rent, which turned out to be different amounts for everyone. Tony paid $1,000. per month Bernie paid $900. per month, and I'm not sure what the rest of them paid. But they took anyone. I signed a rental agreement which stated that everyone that stayed there had to be able to take care of themselves. Well Bernie had to have someone to cook all his meals, give him meds and tell him when to take a bath, which he hardly ever did. He stayed in his room all day except for meals and to go out to smoke. They had trouble with Joseph Roeder (Stealing) at another home of theirs so they sent him over to our house and then Tony started missing his pills. We didn't get rid of him until he pulled an overdose of his seraquell one night and they finally got rid of him. Tony moved out on May 29th and when I cleaned his room I found empty cans of beer and empty bottles of wine and booze. This was supposed to be a dry house. They knew he was a drinker yet they let him move in from their house because he wanted more space and to be more on his own.

The day I moved in I was told to clean up the house, do laundry and clean the refridgerator, (the fridge looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months) I had to clean all the bedding, towels etc and they would buy groceries. I ended up doing all the cleaning, cooking, and making sure everyone followed the house rules. I never asked for this job but was given it anyway. They did give me a few dollars every month for 4 or 5 months which if they had to pay someone from out side would have cost them a bundle, so they got off really cheap. Then they decided since Ben and I were they only ones left they were going to drop the rent to $500. plus $50. for utilities and $25. for gas. Excuse me but if you stick someone out where there is no bus service except to walk 3 miles to southpoint casino should we be responsible for paying for gas, when they said they would take us to the grocery store every week.

A few days after Tony moved out they had to get Bernie out because Tony had filed a report that people were being abused etc. and they didn't want Bernie telling them that I was doing the cooking and cleaning and that Bernie couldn't take care of himself. But yet Edgar said "they weren't doing anything wrong". Yet Jennifer was having a fit trying to find another place for Bernie to go so when Social Services or whoever came to investigate he couldn't tell them what was going on. Edgar took Ben and me aside a told us we would know what to say to them including that we cooked for ourselves and shared taking care of the house. But yet they weren't doing anything wrong. In September Ron moved in and he had trouble with his check and we were trying to get that settled and straightened out, well while doing so Edgar had told him that the rent was going to be $775. which would include his groceries for the month. Well Ron made the comment that the rent was a little too high and word got back to Jennifer of what he said she immediately called him and proceeded to YELL at him for about 10 min. Some of her remarks were "How dare he make comments like that, he had no right to say anything like that", and other things along that line. I know she yelled at him because I was sitting a few feet away and could hear almost all she was saying in her ramblings at him. He told her twice that she didn't need to yell because he could hear quite well. Anyway after that episode I told Ron not to worry about it because if she felt she had a right to yell at people and tell them what they could and couldn't say.

On the 3rd of November Ron wanted to see if there was a clothing store in the little mall about 40 min walk from the house. We got there and Ron called for a cab to take him to Southpoint to take a bus back downtown. He wasn't going to put up with being yelled at for what he has to say. I tried talking him into calling and talking to Edgar but he wouldn't have it. I decided to follow him and try to talk him into talking to Edgar and working it out. I told him to wait while I went to the bathroom and when I came out I couldn't find him anywhere. I was so afraid they would blame me I searched all day downtown trying to find him and when I returned to Southpoint I felt so depressed I spent almost all my money. I ended up walking home in about 2 hours and the next day I explained to Edgar what had happened and asked for them not to throw me out on the street. I agreed to pay them back $100. a month until it was paid off.

Well then we get to the 2nd of March and Adrian and Jonamae inform me that Edgar and Jennifer are going on a vacation the first week in March, which is when I get my check. I started worrying about getting to the store and my Dr. appointment. They said I would never have to worry about those things because they would make sure it was always covered. I heard nothing. So then I hear Adrian say that the house is going into foreclosure and the next Jonamae says she got a letter from Jennifer to move out either the 23rd or 27th of March. I decided to make arrangements with friends to move all my stuff to a locker. Well they never showed up and I went and made arrangements to move into a house with four other friends. Well that turned out to be a phony and the 3 of the for of us got ripped off for our money. I got a call from Jonamae about the second week of march and told her we were supposed to be moving the following monday and I couldn't move my stuff until the following weekend.

Well all went wrong and we all got cheated by our supposed friend and I had nothing. Well now I have a way to get my things and Edgar just wants to give me grief and b***h at me. I told him I had planned on still paying him off but all he wanted to do was b***h. I just recently found out that they have to keep my belongings for 90 days if they are a group home well I found out on the 12th of April they already started going through my stuff. On the 18th I tried to get my stuff and all he wanted to do was b***h at me. I am a vulnerable and mentally ill adult. I don't always figure out what is right or who I can trust but should I have to keep getting cheated and ripped off?
