EH Hardscape previously known as HH Hardscape is a hardscape contractor in Charlotte, NC and Rockhill, SC. The company is owned and operated by Hector Hernandez. We hired EH Hardscape do build an outdoor living space with a outdoor fireplace, small retaining wall and a water feature with a water fall. When we first spoke with the owner Hector Hernandez, he was all smiles and "yes sir we can do that no problem" was his go to response to anything we asked to qualify them.  Doing online research we didn't find much about EH Hardscape, but HH Hardscape certainly had some issues, but Hector assured us that is was a previous partner he left because he said the other guy used poor quality products and would short cut the project to increase thier profits. We didn't see anything about that online so we gave Mr. Hernandez a deposit nd he was scheduled to begin. A month after the start date and many excuses about a family memebers health, he finally arrived with his "crew".  You can't judge a book by it's cover, but you can certainly pass judgement after reading a few pages. Hector and his crew showed up with speaker blaring, smoking and looking very disoganized.

The first phase of the project was clearning away the area. They dug up, chopped up and push around our previous landscaping. we knew they had to remove a few bushes, but they even took down a young fruit tree. When I asked hector about it, there was appearantly a miscommunication on my part about where theproject boundries were. I was assured it wouldn't be a problem and the finish product would look amazing.  I was quite concerned, but money was spent and the projectwas underway.

The crew was rude and disrespectful. They started the job with music blaring. My wife works from home and had to ask them multiple times to turn it down. However, everytime they waited 10 minutes and they tured it back up.  Add to this, they took no care to clean the dirt off thier feet when they would just walk in my house to use the bathroom or get some water. Had I known they were even going to come in the house we could have made preparations.  All I got were sorries.  But it happened repeatedly. I was told on more than one occasion that the english commination was the problem as appearantly spanish was thier main language. I don't care what language they speak as long as we understand each other.  However, i was made to feel like it was my fauly for not speaking spanish when expressing my concerns to his team.

The project dragged on forever. There were sunny days they just wouldn't show up. When I called to ask about it, the person on the other end of the phone acted like they didn't speak english at all, except to say "Ok someone call you back" No one ever did.

The big issue came when they botched a waterfall that ended up somehow flooding our yard and entray way of our home with water and mud. It damaged our carpets and some of our hardwood but mostly it damage the fireplace because the water ran all night and ruined the fireplace. 

At this point I was done. I demanded that they fixed the fireplace, the water feature and the damaged carpet and hardwood. Hectors repsonse was that I was supposed to turn off the water a couple hours after the left. I was NEVER told to do that.  He said, oh, no they told my wife, NOPE!  When I also questioned him about the damage to the stone inthe fireplace, he said I choose the materials and they were not as good as I should have chosen.  Of course he fails to remember telling me how it was great quality, would look great and again yes sir no problems.  That was until I expected him to pay for damages.

Hectors response to my saking him to pay for damages was that I was an unreasonable customer and he couldn't keep on the job. I told him it was his fault and he was repsonsible. He said no way. I threatened to sue him. He said go ahead, nothing in the company is in his name.  We are in the process of talking with our attorney. Come to find out, Hector was the shody partner who was the one he warned us about the whole time.

I should have put the red flaggs together.  Stay away from thes guys.

I just wanted to say thank you for posting your complaint. My wife and I were considering this company to have something similar done to the home we are purchasing. This really sealed it for me. They definitely will NOT get my business.
