ehamony has refused membership for myself and several other people that (as best I can guess) are in a classification or group that is possibly difficult to match or that they have too many of.  Because of that they taint the statistics for matching by only allowing ideal or most popular people.  Many were denied membership without giving much more information than the above.

The best I can guess is that a male, over 45, divorced, and possibly some other statistics is either in excess at their site or difficult to match so they limit the number of members that are difficult to match.  I speculate that they recognise that having members that are unmatched on the site too long then they have undesirable statistics and then it looks like their matching algorithm/methodology is unique.

I postulate that their match statistics are not validly representative of the polulation that would/could join other matching sites.  But, it is the results of their screening out a large portion of them.  Thereby, their advertised match rate is missing a key element... they will not let many people into their database.

I would venture to say that I completely agree with the report that EHarmony stats are fraudulent. I attempted to sign up with them, but never got past the first five or six questions. As soon as I answered the one about being divorced, I got a message that they could not match me! I tried several years ago when they first came out, and managed to create a profile after over an hour of answering insane questions, even duplicates, only to be told they could not match me. After that, I could never even log in without that same message popping up immediately after logging in! My guess would be they only want young, single, never married people on their site, or they're just a plain scam to begin with! I'm just glad I never invested any money in their web site! There are other ways to meet people!
