I am 21 years old and have recently had my first child 2 months ago. I was searching thru the newspaper for a job and stumbled upon an ad for electronic medical billing from your home. I called and was informed that this company contracted with doctors from all over the country and all I had to do was buy the software and pass their entry level test and I would then qualify to become a biller for them.

I specifically asked how the company worked and was told that THE COMPANY would mail me the hard copies of the medical entries on Monday and Tuesday of the week and I would type up as many as I could during the day and then e-mail the entries back into the company at night. I would get paid every Friday and so my income would depend on how much time I spent during the day transfering information. I was asked to give my name, address, and phone number and type of payment I would be using to pay for the software which cost $325.00. I told her I would have to use a check but that I would have to speak to my boyfriend about this investment before I would go thru with it due to the fact that it was his bank account and my name was NOT on it.

The lady from the company said that I could call her back with the routing number off the check whenever I was ready but that I could go ahead and give her the account number so that she would have as much info as possible already entered when I decided to continue with the program. Somewhere in the shuffle the company sent out the software to me and I called to inform them that I had not decided to buy it and that I would send it back. I checked with the bank and at the time it had not been billed for the $325 but when I called to tell them that I would send the software back, the next day they had debited the account.

I specifically told them that I would be returning it to sender the very next morning and to NOT touch the account. They did it anyway without getting authorization and even had to call the bank to get the routing number because I had never given it to them.

I have been trying for a week, 5 or 6 times a day, to get someone to call me back regarding the money being transferred back and NO ONE will return my calls. Due to the fact that the account was not even in my name, there should be something illegal here, and my boyfriend is a DPS officer so he is not happy with there actions and will pursue the issue if it is not resolved in a week. There should be some kind of protective system against companies who just do something like this without consent!!

I just called the company you are refering too after seeing it in a article. I thought I would go online to see if there is any truth to what the lady told me about the program. I plan to talk to my wife about the course before buying it. Sort of what you did with your boy friend. I became very sceptical when I saw your "ripoff" letter. Well here is my response: I dont see how this was a ripoff. How many times have we heard "we could not reach a company after a transaction was made"? Sometimes it is hard to get my own creditors to call back. The question here is: Was the program beneficial to you? Did you even give it a try? Sounds to me like there is money to be made in the medical billing area. Why did you even try to get the program if you were not serious? You shouldn't blame the company for an error not only on your part, but as well as the clerk who took your info over the phone. That person could have been working on commission and was only trying to make a buck to feed his or her own first child too. I think you should give the company a try before you call it a ripoff. I understand you frustration on loosing $325.00. I hope your boyfreind still loves you, and good luck to your future purchases
