Received 50 free songs or 1 audiobook offer with my mp3 player.  eMusic doesn't let you get those without signing up for a plan and giving a credit card. 
Your plan is in the form of credits for music or audiobooks.  You have 30 days and if you don't cancel, they bill your credit card for whatever plan you chose but they don't credit your eMusic account for the credits you purchased at the time they bill your credit card.  When you sign into your account you always show just 1 or 2 credits, according to your plan. 
If you don't use your plan credits in the allotted amount of time in your plan, you loose it.  But in reality, you don't even know you have it because you never see it on your account.  They had charged my credit card 6 times and never reflected those purchased in my account information on their website.  I guess these rules are stated in their lengthy purchase agreement somewhere.
I have other sites that I purchase monthly credits for gaming and they credit your account every month and you bank those credits if you don't use them which seems the right thing to do.  eMusic never credits your account. They believe in "use it or loose it".  They took me for $60 before I realized what they were doing.  I called and told them that my credit card was being charged but my account wasn't showing the credits for those credit card charges.  From the conversation, obviously not their first complaint. It's their game and it's ridiculous.
