I purchased a used long block engine, in good faith, which I thought was a Japan Domestic Market low mileage engine. My mechanic signed for the engine noting that the outward apperance of the engine was not damaged, not that the internal parts of the engine were in good working condition.

My mechanic replaced all oil seals assessible and the rest of the required parts before the engine was put into my car.  When the mechanic started to put in the reguired seals and started to remove some of the outer coverings he found excessive carbon buildup in the air chamber going to the EGR valve that was required to be cleaned out before installation.

Engine World USA, claims on their website that they do extensive testing of their engines. However,  there is no signed paperwork that these engine test are actually perfomed.  You will not receive any signed documentation that this engine is from the Japan Domestic Market and has low mileage of between 40,000 and 60,000 miles, as JDM engines usually are.  I believe that these engines are taken from junkyards in the U.S. and passed off as JDM engines.

When the installation was complete and the mechanic started the engine there was so much oil smoke coming out of the exhaust it took a long time with the help of a fan  to get the smoke out of the shop.  Taking the car out for a test drive showed that the engine was burning oil. In fact, after 30 minutes of driving required 1 qt of oil be added to the engine when the test drive was over.  The engine was burning oil as the oil smoke kept coming out of the exhaust.

A call to Engine World USA, required  the filling out of the warranty claim form.  After their review, I was blamed for the engine leak because I didn't replace all of the parts.  This was a totally false claim. Then it was my fault becuase I didn't replace the PCV valve which caused the oil smoke, again another false claim. Then it was my fault because I signed for the engine which to them meant the I inspected the engine and it was my fault for not discovering this problem when the truck carrier dropped the engine off at the shop.

I continued to drive the vehicle another week and a half and went out one morning and the engine would barely run.  My mechanic inspected it and told me the head gasket had blown.  Another call to Engine World and the same thing, I didn't replace all of the necessary parts so it was my fault, then it was take the engine out of the car, ship it back to them and they would try and see what was wrong with the engine. This is not like ordering a defective shirt!

I was fed up, I tried to lodge a dispute with the credit card company but because I didn't have a second opinion from someone who didn't do the work or supervise the work They couldn't continue my dispute.  The statement from the mechanic who did the work was not sufficent.

I suggest that if you ever need to buy a used engine and come across the website at www.usedjapanmotors.com. delete it immediately.  Do not deal with these con artists. You will be sorry....
