Enterprise really put a damper on what was supposed to be a fun weekend get-a-way for me and my children.  I decided to rent a car for a trip to Savannah. I looked online and saw the $39.99 per day deal advertised by Enterprise. I thought that it would be a great deal. I even called the day before renting and was given a quote of approx. $159.00, total.  Of course, when I arrived at my local enterprise, ready to rent, I was upset to find that the only cars that were available were minivans and SUV's-no vehicles that would fall in the $39.99 category. This left me very disappointed and I asked why they didnt tell me that there were no full size or smaller vehicles available when I spoke to them over the phone. Of course the response was, "Well, we were expecting other vehicles but none have come in".

Enterprise is the only car rental franchise located in Sumter SC.  At the time, I was not willing to drive 30-45 minutes away to rent from another company.  Though it really bothered me to pay over $400 when I had planned on paying around $160, went ahead and paid for the vehicle to avoid having to postpone our trip. I figured that it wouldnt be so bad considering that the $150 deposit would be returned to me. I even agreed to add the insurance because the Enterprise agent told me that it would be $18.00.  (SN: He failed to tell me that it would be $18 per day and not $18 total.) I politely requested that they call me if they get a smaller vehicle in before 3pm that afternoon. Of course, that didnt happen. 

Here's where it gets really ugly.  When I rented the vehicle, I made it clear that I would be returning the vehicle after 4pm on Monday.  I arrived at 5:10 p.m. and was told that I would not be getting my deposit back and they charged me an extra $27.07, making my total bill $450.78.  Why did they not tell me that I would be charged for an extra day when I explained that I would bring the vehicle back after 4 pm.  I am extremely disgusted with this company.  They are leeches and I would never do business at Enterprise again.  They are well aware that they are the only rental option in this immediate area and they do not hesitate to pull the wool over the eyes of unsuspecting customers with their questionable business practices.  I keep looking at this reciept and I cant believe that I went in there expecting to pay $160 and ended up paying almost 3 times the amount.  In the future, I will happily drive 30 minutes away to use another company.  I will also make relatives, friends, and coworkers aware of my highly unsatisfactory experience with this company.
