I had called Enterprise on their national reservations phone number to secure a car for my California vacation. I was to pick up the car at the Oakland airport on July 20,2002. The person on the phone booked my reservation for an economy size car for that week.

She then asked me what time my flight got in. I explained that the e-ticket I had had an arrival time of 6:50 pm, however I was confused if it was Missouri time or California time. She told me not to worry, she would "call it a 5:00 arrival." She gave me a confirmation number and I never gave it another thought

Upon arriving in Oakland, which turned out to be 6:50 after all, I got my luggage and proceeded to the rental car trailers. Enterprise was closed up. All of the other rental car companies were in full operation. So I proceeded to try them all one by one. They were all full. Could not give me a car.

Finally I tried calling all three phone numbers I had for Enterprise with no response except a recording saying that they are closed. Eventually I went back out to the trailers and spoke with a nice lady at the Hertz trailer who agreed to give me a car that no one claimed. I gratefully took it. However, I was now over 3 hours late getting started on my drive to Fort Bragg. It was 1:15 am when I checked in to my hotel.

I am still waiting to find out if they charged my credit card. If they did, the charge WILL be disputed. The person at Hertz told me that Enterprise leaves people stranded frequently. I want them to know how frustrating, inconvenient, and discourtious their practices are. The woman from Enterprise had EVERY oportunity to tell me that their pick up office closes.
