I called Equifax and talked to the Boos of Diana Watson and anyhow she told me that they would take off the two SSA Numbers that were not mine that were on the report and send a copy of the new credit report to me, to this day still haven't gotten one. What can I do? Should I sue them and if so what kind of a attorney would I need?

Have Equifax send you a letter stating information was merged onto your credit report. The situation has resulted in damages to you and financial loss, you have a very good case for a lawsuit. You may not end up with the property you wanted but you may walk away with some cash. When they make blatant errors like this and see that you are holding them to their responsibility they very often try to settle before court.

Equifax has told me that what happened is the place where I got this report from that they merged it all into one. They included my dad's with mine and then they included someone else's with mine. So the people that gave the report to the mortgage company that denied me the loan they need to fix it.

It is very difficult to go through this type of situation & I hope I can offer some solutions for you. Firstly, calls won't help you. Start by sending COPIES of all the documentation you have, along with a letter detailing who you spoke with, date time etc. Be brief and to the point. Give the information of the person you spoke to at the loan company and what she said. Don't make any nasty comments in your letter, this will not help you. (Maybe you can get the person from the loan company to fax you something that will also assist you & include of copy of this in your letter) Then send this letter CERTIFIED RETURN RECEIPT to Equifax Let them know that per the FDCPA they have 30 days to respond to your requests to verify this item(s) belongs to you (which they obviously cannot), or delete this(these) incorrect negative reports on your credit. They HAVE to respond in 30 days. This is just the start of the process and I hope it helps a little. The burden is now on Equifax to prove this is yours or correct their error. Also request that they send you a free report showing it has been corrected and the information removed. Make sure you keep a file with the original of everything you are sending, including the letter and the copy of the certified slip. Make a note for yourself to follow up on the 30th day after they have received it (you calculate that by the date on the little green card they had to sign for the certified letter that is sent back to you for your records)you send them another demand letter to remove the items if they have not responded or if they could not verify the info, to remove it immediately. Let them know that you will file a complaint with the Attorney General and FTC if they do not correct this issue immediately. Also send this certified return receipt. Then if you don't have any satisfaction file a complaint with the Attorney General's office and Federal Trade Commission. GOOD LUCK!

I understand your situation with these people... I have called them on several occasions and they are not the friendlest people.. i was told by our local credit beaureu that sometimes if they can't find a person with a social security number that they go to the name and try to match addresses.. sometimes that doesn't work either so they put it where they think it goes and sometimes it isn't the right person..... That was a couple years ago... Last week i went to the credit beaureu here to dispute something on my credit and found out they are no longer open. i called equifax and the lady i talked to was very rude... i am now waiting for my report i requested from national archives to prove to her that it is wrong..... If i can't get anywhere then i will contact a lawyer....it is not right that these credit report agencies make mistakes like everyone else but they will not admit thier mistakes or at least give you the couresty of hearing you out..

Never call the credit bureaus! rarely does any good come from phone calls. Send them a dispute letter along with the copy of your credit report highlighting the items that you claim aren't yours. In your letter tell them flat out "these items are not mine" and include the account name and account number. Include your address, date of birth, and social security number. Make a copy of your license and include that for identification purposes. Send the letter certified mail return receipt requested for a proper paper trail. If you follow these instructions Equifax will be required to begin an investigation and must complete it within 30 days. I hope this helps. Good luck.

That you see is that what the company you applied with gave you or did it come directly from Equifax? If it came from the trailer company, go to equifax's website and pay to get a copy of the credit report. If that same info is on the online one, then you have a way to dispute it. Sounds like a mixed file based on name or something from what you have said.
