Macy's cancelled my card and give me a link to

www.equifax.com/fcr for a free credit report. I went there filled in all

requested info plus a Visa number for verification. The web stated that they

were offering free credit reports as mandated by the Federal Trade Commission.

Once into the website, Equifax that some how became Scoresense asked for a $1.00

refundable fee for processing. Seven days later my Visa was charged $29.95. When

I called customer service, scoresense refunded my $1.00 but refused to refund my

$29.95 membership for something I did not know I have. I think Equifax found the

way to charge for reports that the US Governement forced them to give for free.

What a shame. Haw can you trust their credit scores as they are cheaters and

scammers.

It should be www.equifax.com/fcra not /fcr as I originally wrote. What drives me nuts is that you go to one company site and you think it's such a respected company, let your guard down, and you end up with some other company site that you never intended to access and they rob you blind.

I can't say anything about the link Macy's gave you, but that link is not a valid link.  If you attempt to go to it the very first thing you see is a very big "PAGE NOT FOUND".

Now, there are links on that page to other pages.  The first one is to your free annual credit report.  But that takes you to the valid site www.annualcreditreport.com which is 100% free.

What may have happened is that you have malware/add-on in your browser that basically "hijacks" your browser and when you get to invalid pages it will put up sponsored listings.  This is outside of the control of any of these companies.  So you may want to run a good anti-malware scanner to make sure you don't have anything on your system.
