I wanted to share my personal experience with Exclusive Auto Group, located at 126 Route 22 East Hillside, NJ. 07205.126 Route 22 East

On June 12th, 2013 I called to inquire about a vehicle they had on cars.com and advertised at $42,995. I spoke with Carlos who was very friendly and told me it was still available but was in the body shop to have a kit put on it. This did not deter my interest because the kit they were placing on the car was one I was interested in anyway and just an added bonus. After talking with him and a few phone calls I agreed with him and his boss was also involved to pay full asking for the vehicle. Carlos assured it would be ready by mid the following week and asked that I put a $5000.00 deposit down to secure which I gladly did.

In the days to come photos came in of the body kit being put on and communication from Carlos was good and I felt good about the purchase. Like any used car buyer should do I hired a 3rd party mechanic who specializes in this vehicle to go do a check on it to ensure it was mechanically sound ($150.00). In addition I booked a flight from Greensboro to NJ ($224.30) for Thursday 27th, 2013. The Mechanic came back and I was willing to accept the condition of the vehicle but simply asked Carlos to look at one item, which he did and said was taken care of.

Thursday morning came after receiving more photos of the hard work they put into the car the night before and I was packed and ready to head out the door when I get a call from Carlos (7:00 am). Carlos explains to me that his boss called him and instructed him that he could not sell the car for the $42,995 as agreed and advertised. He said the paint and body work was simply too much and that they needed to get more for the vehicle. Carlos stated they would take no less than $48,000, and knowing I wanted an extended warranty he would cover half of the ($5000.00) warranty and sell me the car and the warranty for $50,000. I was highly disappointed needless to say and in the end we just could not close the deal. Carlos said he would refund my deposit, fully cover my $224.30 flight and the $150.00 spent on the mechanic which would just in the end put me out for my time spent. I immediately faxed him the bills so he could use them for the reimbursements as requested.

A few days later I checked my card and indeed the $5000.00 deposit was reimbursed, however several calls and text later initiated by me and I still have not seen the $374.30 in other expenses promised and were just past 6 weeks later. Carlos in our last communications said he has sent the $150.00 for the mechanic (Which he did not), but is not responsible for the flight (contradiction to his statements before). He seemed to think Expedia or the airline would credit or refund this money but after calling both companies this is clearly not the case.

For me the overall experience was not pleasant and I would never do business with them again.
