Expecam.com Is Also USA Photo Nation And RainbowTronics Grey Goods, no warranty, bait and switch etc Jamaica New York
The online seller expecam.com is selling camcorders they buy in Japan (or asia somewhere) and using them for what amounts to a "bait a switch". They advertise a Canon HV20 for 449.00 and held the order, asking me to call. I called and they proceeded to offer upgrades i.e. a 4 hour battery instead of the 30 minute battery that comes with the camera and so on... THEN "do you want a warranty?"... he then explained that this is a Japan camera with no US warranty and they he could "upgrade" me to a USA package that included a 4 hour battery and a warranty for well over $1000. I cancelled the order and bought a USA version from another vendor for around $800. This delayed delivery until after Christmas. I had to pay an extra $50 for shipping to get it here this week.
I did a little homework AFTER this happened and found through whois and address searching that this is the same business location as USA Photo Nation (usaphotonation.com) and RainbowTronics (RainbowTronics.com)... both of which come up as scamming businesses.
In the hectic run up to the various end of year holidays we have to be more careful of course... but who needs this crap?
