I finally did receive the credit that Eyeglass World owed me. It took approximately 7 weeks and numerous calls to the store and to the corporate offices. I was finally able to connect with a sympathetic employee (who isn't even supposed to be dealing with these types of issues) that was willing to stay on it until I got my credit. I wish I could give this person credit, but it could jeoporadize their job. How sad is that!? Rather than rewarding employees for excellent customer service, they stand to be disciplined. Even though the credit was finally put through, it has still been one big ripoof. The first time I wore the glasses that were made in their frames, the ear piece fell off! As a comparison, I have had my other frames for over 6 years now, and they have never fallen apart. The glasses they made for me out of my old frames are still together, but I am having trouble seeing properly out of them. I am pretty sure the prescription is wrong. I am going to go to an independent optician and have them checked. After I thought back on the whole scheme, Ii realized that they never fitted me for my glasses at all. When I went to pick them up, the person at the front desk just handed them to me, and said "here you go". In retrospect, they probably do not have nayone qualified to fit glasses. I do not understand how they are staying in business. I guess they get just enough "first time suckers" like me to keep them going. I also don't understand their business philosophy. Even a first semester MBA student would know better than to run a business like they do.
