I made a deal verbally and in writing with Kimberly Adams (apparently the owner) to swap services a month before my move was scheduled.  I delivered $300 in services immediately as a good-faith gesture.  When we made the deal, via email and phone I discussed with Kimberly Adams the size of my home and the amount of items to be moved.  I emailed a detailed inventory list two weeks prior to the move.

I didn't hear anything back so I sent a reconfirmation email a week before the move was scheduled. Kimberly Adams responded that she had been out of town (with no access to her Yahoo email account? How lame!) and that someone named "Kenny" should have gotten back to me about the cancellation.  She said they are primarily apartment movers and couldn't handle a move like mine.  If that's the case, why did she make a deal with me and, in effect, steal my services?

She said she was sorry.  I called her and she refused to take or return my call.  Via email I demanded $300 for the services I had rendered but she has so far not acknowledged my demand and hasn't paid me.

More important, I checked with the Texas DMV website using their USDOT registration number advertised on their sales materials and found that their TXDOT registration (006604698C) has not been completed!

I called the Texas DMV enforcement office and they said there was some kind of problem with the company's insurance and that they were not authorized to do business as a moving company in Texas until their registration was approved. So, according to the Texas DMV, EZ Moving and Delivery is operating illegally as of this post.

Stay away from EZ Moving and Delivery and Kimberly Adams in Cedar Hill, TX.

And I highly recommend that before hiring a moving company you check their state registration as well as the consumer review sites.  Beware of any moving company with predominately 5-star reviews.  Given the sorry state of the moving industry, most of glowing 5-star reviews are probably fake.
