Fair price moving moved us on June 26th 2005. Our complaint is as follows:

1) Fair price moving was scheduled to show up between 9-10 AM, and they finally showed up at 1:30 PM.

2) Although we signed a state of Florida disclosure form which clearly states that movers have to accept 2 out of cash, check, or credit card as forms of payment, they would only accept Cash. I pointed this out to the mover that he had given us the disclosure to sign, and he reiterated that he only accepted cash.

3) The foreman approached us to work a "deal" with the tip. If we guaranteed a $150 tip in advance, he would not charge us past 4 hours. I told him that you don't tip before you eat in a restaurant. He then said, I work deals to save you money, so ok you don't want to deal, we'll see what happens. Maybe the job takes 10 hours. Then himself and another mover stopped working. Only one out of three movers worked the rest of the day. I actually had to help the last mover move my stuff.

3) We were charged extra for all "required" covers for our furniture. They charged us $20 each for mattress covers to "protect" our furniture. Then they proceeded to lay down our mattresses on the dirty street before covering them.

4) We were continuously harassed by the foreman to guarantee their tip even though he had stopped working. We were harassed to the point that we felt as if we were extorted.

5) We arranged for our couch to be removed off the balcony in advance. Although this was clearly stated in the contract, the movers insisted on trying to fit it through the door. We explained that when it was moved in, the movers tried 100 times, but it was too big to go through the door. Of course they did not listen and wasted another 40 minutes trying. They ended up going over the balcony as we originally requested.

DO NOT USE FAIR PRICE MOVING!! They are a bunch of crooks that will try to charge you or extort a tip from you at every possible moment. This move was a nightmare!

I just got done posting my complaint about this company. I had a very similar experiance. This company are the biggest crooks I ever have met. They underquote you by a lot and then take a very long time to move you, so they can charge you at least twice as much when quoted knowing it will be to late to dispute or fire them once they have their stuff on the truck. The biggest A-hole from this company is the owner Rob. Didn't care when I called him during the move to complain and even went as far to say it was all my fault and that I was a peace of s**t and he didn't need a customer like me who didn't appreciate their hard work. Can you believe this?
