Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Absolutely avoid Clay Sparkman and Fairfield Financial services;! They asked for upfront due diligence fee of $2000 to process a commercial hard money loan and then barrage you with questions for over 65 days yes that's 2 months of nothing but questions like "tell me again about the security?" When it has been answered 3 times and included in a comprehensive business plan. These people are nothing but brokers and when they cannot place your loan they will keep your deposit.

Absolutely avoid them at all costs I have never met an individual like Clay who could ask the same questions only by e-mail-only by e-mail you can never speak to these people on the phone they hide behind e-mail! And if they can't place your loan they will just drag it out as they did with us for 65 days until I finally got angry enough to tell him off. I can't stress enough stay away from these people they will cost you thousands of dollars. If you want a real lender contact me I can refer you to one but stay away from Fairfield financial services. Notice the form below says additional protection if you used a credit card; despite. Request Fairfield financial would not accept a corporate credit card they required a bank wire transfer which is absolutely non-refundable. They chose to defraud a homeless veterans organization of thousands of dollars for their own greed; and despite repeated requests to just reject the file and send our money back they refused and Mr. Sparkman somehow thinks he's entitled to keep $2000 from a group of homeless veterans. Avoid this man like the plague.

Hi Randy,

You sure make a lot out of things that don't seem to matter. I responded when I did because that was when I first became aware of your posting. And I am responding now becuase I just became aware of your response to my rebuttal. (What did you think? That I was hiding under my desk for two years?)

Look: your allegations that we make a practice of keeping deposits is completely ufounded. That would show on our books. An audit would prove this. You should be careful what you infer in a public forum about me, my family, and our company.

We have been in business since 1964 and this is the first complaint of this sort that we have ever had. Would that perhaps have any significance?

Enough said.

First, I find it interesting that despite being notified of this complaint, the action occurred in September 2014! This is January 2016 Mr. Sparkman why so long, I believe the answer is you don't want to face the truth.

Never in my life have I met such a person that will keep demanding more and more and more documents and then more documents and asking redundant stupid questions. Example you are buying a business, the clerk behind the counter her name is Cindy Mr. Sparkman is going to ask you how many hours. Ms. Cindy works what is her background what a certification is she married.... I believe all excuses and reasons until he just frustrates you to the point that you quit. And that's what he wants you to do. He wants you to quit because he sets out with the intention of keeping your deposit

In fact, Mr. Sparkman if you are so sure of yourself give me my refund. Now I'll gladly take my $2000 back. Despite his claims of innocence and performance. If you do this 10 times a week (which I believe he does). That's not a bad payday. You see Mr. Sparkman made one mistake and he answered his phone when I was calling him and he mistakenly carried on his conversation with the other person thinking he had put my call to voicemail when in fact he connected to me; I'm not to divulge the contents of the conversation but I will tell you I immediately lost confidence in him and his company. Please consumers stay away from this guy. He's a crook and he will keep your money. And Mr. Sparkman if you want to eliminate this problem here's my contact information.

Response to complaint

#4REBUTTAL Owner of company

I came upon this report just recently, and I feel compelled to set the facts straight. As such, I offer the following in response:

(1) In 52 years of doing business as Fairfield, this is the first time that I have come upon a complaint online or, for that matter made to any organization.

(2) I don't recall this person's name, but I do recall the situation--and I feel that I am in a solid position to respond to the accusations.

(3) I find it interesting that the complainant is making a claim of fraud, and is doing so anonymously. I don't see where he has given his name or contact information. Fraud is a serious allegation, and I want to say that we were in no way fraudulent in this transaction, and that I can prove so.

(4) We do in fact prefer to do as much vetting as possible using e-mail. However, it is not true that we hide behind e-mail, and we often have conversations in person or over the phone with clients when a particular situation calls for it.

(5) It is not true that we draw out a loan if we cannot place it. It is rare that we cannot place a loan after we have taken a deposit. That happens maybe once or twice a year. And if it we do reach that conclusion, we immediately notify the client of the situation.

(6) In this particular case, the complainant repeatedly refused to provide essential information that we requested. He became belligerent and repeatedly made a point of telling me what I needed to know/see and what I didn’t, ignoring my requests for additional information. I attempted time and time again to request the additional information that I needed, and he repeatedly refused to provide it.

(7) It is most definitely not the case that our deposits are “absolutely non-refundable.” If we cannot place a loan after being provided with the essential information/documentation that we need to do so, and after determining that the loan is indeed as was represented, we will return the client’s deposit. On most occasions, when a loan cannot be place, we return the deposit, and we are capable of demonstrating those situations where we have done so.

(8) If you have any questions about any of this, please contact Clay Sparkman at 503.476.2909 or [email protected].

Thank you for your time.
