First when did you sign off the title to your trade in? Before or after they told you that they had sold your car. I work for a used car dealer. What they did was totally illegal. I would diffentally turn them into to the State Of Michigan Secretary of State. You can do this online by going to the States website. What they did was a basic bait and switch on you. Sometimes bad dealers will tell you that they sold your trade in to make you purchase a car because now they have you a bad situation, because just about everyone needs a car to get around. If they told you that they sold your car before you signed off the title, then they broke the law. Michigan dealers can not sell a vehicle if they don't have the title in their possession and in their name. Never sign anything until you have read everything and feel comfortable with the deal, that includes the title to the car that you currently own, which should always be the last thing you do when you purchase a car. It gives you some leverage with the dealer. That way you can go through the papers for the vehicle you are purchasing before you sign the title over to them. I hope this helps.
