My family and I had the terrible experience of dealing with Family RV (FamilyRVUSA.com, Baird Family RV) on November 10th in Ontario. The shock of the treatment from the owner and sales manager still has not gone away. After doing a little research on the travel trailer we wanted we did a Google search to see who had it. Family RV came up. Unfortunately I did not check their reviews. After looking at it we decided we would see what price we could get it for. The sales manager tells me $34,000. I remind him his website has it for $31,000. We were already off to a bad start. After a bunch of back and forth's they gave a lower number. I told them I can find it cheaper elsewhere using the Internet and having it shipped and that if they match the price we would buy from them. The sales manager went to the back to talk to the owner. Their final offer was $1000 more then what we found online and the real crazy part was they were going to remove the standard TV from the trailer. It was at that stage I decided these guys were not honest and it was time to leave. I get up to shake his hand and he pulls away. He then starts yelling at my wife and I in front of my 4 year old daughter and 7 year old son. Telling me he hopes I enjoy the snow from where the trailer I found online came from, etc. I am pushing my kids out the door when he says "Enjoy buying online because you are being cheap". I tell him I can buy from anywhere, it didnt have to be that dealership online. Now is when it gets crazy! The owner Jerry Baird comes out from his lair and says "Then why are you here?" So after being told to get lost by the owner I was over the experience. I asked why they were being aholes. At this comment (which in hindsight I shouldnt have said but my frustration level was over the top after dealing with this small time operation) the owner tells me to "get the F&^% out of his dealership" amongst other vulgarities. With my kids outside I decide it was time to leave, so we exited. Apparently Jerry Baird didn't have enough so he follows us out the door. He threatens to "kick my a$$" and tells me to step back in to fight him. My wife and I are trying to get the kids loaded while he continues with his tirade. Once again he challenges me to a fight - which is easy with a bunch of other guys behind him. I ask him "Are you serious? You are threatening assault against a customer of yours. Did you know my wife is a lawyer and how easy you could get sued for physically harming a customer?" At this stage he took it to a whole new level. His exact comment was "I will kick you lawyers a$$ too". At this stage my wife was yelling for me to get in the truck as she feared for her own safety. We drove out in shock and had to explain to two very scared young children what happened is not how real professionals act. My wife and young kids were certainly scared from this experience.

I would NEVER recommend that anyone even think about buying from this business. Please read the reviews online. It sounds like their issues are not isolated according to Yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/family-rv-ontario http://www.yelp.com/biz/family-rv-irvine

They have a D- with the BBB: http://www.la.bbb.org/business-reviews/Recreational-Vehicle-Dealers/Family-RV-in-Pomona-CA-13178639

For anyone else reading this please contact the Attorney General in the City you had your experience at like we have. If more people submit their horror stories, we will be able to ensure others do not have to suffer through the same experiences.

On a side note we ending buying the same trailer but with more upgrades for a few grand less. This included shipping! We went with www.allseasonsrv.com and used Chip Mccue. What a pleasure it was to deal with people that care about business.

..... You sound like a person that works at Family RV. The way you skipped over the experience my family suffered through and went to some strawman tells me you live in the same 'reeks of small time' culture that Family RV lives in. One where an owner threatens prospective clients and their wives. And does so in front of young children. I guess Canada has classless people too.

1) Well, I guess they should update their website since they sell worldwide. Update Fabebook too because All Season RV shows about 100 happy customers and most are out of state to include California.

2) Maybe in Canada you guys have that issue. Here in SoCal we don't. I called two local places the vender gave the names of. Both places will do it.

3) Shipping? The drive for both places is closer then to Ontario where Family RV is. After reading reviews from others and my experience I could only imagine the hell they would have put me through for warranty work.

4) Glad it is a trailer and not something with a drive train. But your point is laughable still because these guys wanted to take the standard TV that comes with the model from the vender out of the deal. In the end I will be happy to wait a few extra days or weeks to get what limited warranty work will need to be done on a trailer in order to never have to buy from an operation like Baird Family RV.

Nice of you to drop your selling dealer in it. Hes not allowed to sell outside his area. Pretty cool.

Good luck getting warranty repairs done, its not like cars, the manufacturer can't force the local dealer to work on your unit.

I hope the warranty repairs needed are going to be less than the shipping will be to get it fixed.

By the way a dealer making a long distance sale knows he won't have to loose money on warranty so he can cut that amount from his equation. I bet Family RV would have sold you at that price if he knew he would never see the trailer again.
