Signed up online for two products to whiten teeth, Dazzle Smile and Clean White. Both were to have a "risk-free" 14-day trial. Both had followup phone calls telling me what else I was going to receive. In both cases I firmly asserted, even having to interrupt their spiel, that I did not want any other shipment of any product. One of them (Clean White) agreed to cancel any further product shipments. The Dazzle White person, however, continued to pursue the same line. Each time, I stopped her and stressed that I did not want anything else, and ultimately she simply hung up on me while I was speaking.



Then about 11/11/09 I saw a charge on my bank account online, dated 11/2 for $87.62 as well as a CBA charge of .70 and identical charges on 11/9. At this point I called the number shown on my bank statement, and was told that I could return the 11/9 shipment but that the other was the introductory shipment I had signed up for and it was too late to return it for credit.



Then came the next surprise: a $24.13 charge for World Fit Club membership that I did not intentionally sign up for.



In every instance this line (or one like it) was used: "We are protected by our statement of terms and conditions." As I pointed out to one, the design of the site may "protect" them from legal recourse, but it's still shady, crooked and unethical. I informed the last young woman that she was selling her soul for a company that had no character and no scruples, and that she would pay a price in her own heart and life for it.



All told my "lesson" cost me over $275 of money earned honestly and ethically. I'll be fine. But these crooks must be stopped from this legalized larceny.
