Today, I won my ongoing case against Midland Credit Management who bought some bogus account from First Consumers National Bank. Their lawyer told the court that I owed Midland $1,300 in July. Today, the bogus account jumped to $2,400! The lawyer then tells me that she is willing to cut the debt in half (a cheap tactic) and that I could make monthly installments until it was paid. So, in other words, they could bill me $1,200 for a debt I never incurred and I was supposed to be happy with that. Mind you, the court gave them 2 months to get proof that I even had an account with either FCNB or Midland. None surfaced. The reason the lawyers are willing to cut the debt is because there is no record of the debt to begin with. It is a sort of scam to get money from you. All you have to do is simply show up to court and demand the original paperwork from the debt. If the original debtor was FCNB, I can almost guarantee you that no record will be recovered because I was told that these people went bankrupt years ago and their records went up in smoke right along with them. DO NOT GIVE IN TO HARASSMENT!!! They are trained to shake people up in order to get money from you. I would not even recommend you get a lawyer. The whole case was a disgrace and if it was not killing my credit, it would be comical. Good luck and please do not hesitate to ask others for help. These scammers need to be stopped!
